Agreed, I just managed to get PIE working and now also find that pressing 9 causes a TSW5 editor crash.
Same with me. In addition, the formations from the timetable will not move. This means that no trains appear, but the correct position is selected in the timetable.
I had the same problem with trains not moving, but if you set local time using ts2.dbg.setlocaltime then it starts to work.
