Mmmm for what I know about this subject then I’d say open this thread topic maybe on other topics within the forum. I could be wrong though. You might get a better response to the topic and subject matter open for discussion. Unless you ask what liveries look the best on either title or what options is available to a standard user for editing liveries even mods. Have some context to the question topic. As I say, I could be wrong if (Edit) so I apologise in advance and will go back under my rock ✌
It does actually say, "The home for all creative projects involving Train Sim World. Mods, videos, screenshots, planned scenarios or livery edits, they all belong in here", as a descriptive comment on this forum section.
Run8 and TSW are incomparable. Run8 is a rail transport simulation proper, driving trains the prototypical way, making up and breaking up trains, delivering cars to industries, picking up cars from industries, dispatching trains, communicating with train crews, it proper physics ... Yes, its landscape is graphically less impressive, and the older cabs could use a makeover TSW is a train driving game, or a locomotive control desk simulation at best, XP points, collectables, TTTE, toy train physics, and aimed at the gaming consoles, their owners thumbstick warriors and konsole kiddies of all ages. TSW looks pretty at first sight, until you start noticing the popping trees, poor track shadows, bouncing pantographs, evenly lit textures all over the cab, ceiling, foot wells and all. And already a few yards from trackside, the scenery changes for the poor pretty quickly. Poor sounds, poor ped behaviour, silly gaming element decisions, total failure of steam locomotive simulation ... And always DTG's excuses, promises and endless bugs ...
Perfectly and why I felt there was no point answering as they are vastly different in terms of what’s involved. Context now. I’m out✌
We differ in opinion. I think it is worth the comparison, particularly for new players or players that only have one of the products. There are basic similarities in each game and it's worth contrasting the differences in the details.
It’s not that as I do agree with you fully in what you say. I have spoken to a number of community members over the same subject matters. So I am fully aware of the pros and cons, the similarities between them and the vast differences. I’ve not played Run 8 as I don’t own a PC, yet again tho I’m fully aware of what RUN 8 is all about. This is a talking point, but why I feel it’s a difficult one because how the whole core game works and what target audience Run 8 and TSW are aimed towards. Therefore right away the similarities don’t come in to play because each game is in a league of its own. It’s hard to make a proper comparison because of this wide gab. TSW is simply, jump in and basically away you go. A to B. Run 8 is not simple, setting up the units, are doing drops or pickups. Not A to B. The games are different in the core dynamics. That difference is what pushed these titles away from each. So yes there are some similarities and differences but when it comes to how the overall (Edit) core mechanics work then no, there is no comparison there to fully discuss to find any reasonable conclusion between the game’s differences. And because I personally feel wouldn’t get any further information talking more is because its common knowledge that the games are completely different if even they appear the same, they are not. That’s just my observation and opinions. I do hope others prove me wrong though as providing others with some insight that aren’t aware of Run 8 is a good act. Yet again tho I know of Run 8 but that’s where it ends. Why because it’s of no interest to a simple minded console user like me or other audiences that use TSW because Run 8 is to difficult for some. And why I stay here on just the Livery creations page, because most here is DTG target audience. Simple TSW game on consoles. Not all the complexities of say PC based titles like TSC or Run 8. PC markets. Console markets. There’s your massive gap. Completely different markets, completely different audiences. So is there a place to make any comparison, if it’s clear to see there is non. A Ford is a car and so is a Bentley but how could one discuss any differences between the two cars because it’s clear to see there is no comparison between a Ford Puma or a Bentley Continental GT. So why discuss. They’re in completely opposite leagues. And why as I say “Im out”. I wish you well again. Rigsby. ✌
