I think the time is coming to let us have both our old routes and the newer routes ... like our old Manchester to Leeds and a new ... just as we now select timetables and liveries and more. Of course this might restrict route hops by compatible time periods and the same for layers, but it seems a natural way to compete with SimRail steam loco and encourage missing Class 90 and 91 and BR120 and even more so if we are in Eastern Europe before and after the Iron Curtain. Berlin is a great example, but also Hamburg, Paris, Amsterdam, Copenhagen ... Mexico City, Houston, Denver, Tokyo... This is not the same as preservation, museums and rail tours: this is about railway worlds as explicitly in terms to eras and epochs in railroading. Oh, about time: will the American conductor have the pocket watch when it appears in what year and why ?
of course the older versions could run on UE 4 and the contemporary versions on a UE 5 .... Okay, no engine gags ... jokes yes, gags, no ...
