when you see locomotive digital speedometer and max speed limit out of sync with both digital values on the top bar minimal HUD what you are witnessing is the reslt of a fundamental design flaw. Software design is non-trivial in applied computer science and software engineering. Debugging and bug fixes do not remedy design flaws. They may, in fact, and in my experience, make software maintenance even more unreliable by not addressing design issues. SCS Software are facing this now in at least two areas: moving to DirectsX 12 and in cargo load, cargo loading, and trailer modelling. The second of these created needless burdens on playing those 2 truck simulators. It is more obvious than the first and is very much a case in point of software design where initial usage expectations fell short of actual usage over time. This is the proverbial Game 2.0.1 issue made most clear by Windows 3.0 if you are old enough to remember that fiasco. Game 2.0 will almost surely be a nightmare, or, as in one notable sim, be rejected by players of Game 1.n.i SCS Software is the best regarded sim developer for home gamers, as opposed to commercial simulators for professional training and skill retention ( flying emergencies simulated for airline pilots as in-service training on-going over time.) Skills are not enough, as checklist use has demonstrated. Skills are not enough as Pointing and Calling had demonstrated. So simulation and software complements are real-life partners. But all we have are inadequate or missing manuals, our own community, and the flawed software, Why do we deserve better ? Not just our investment in cash. It is our investment in time. We, the users of TSW, do the post-release debugging for DTG. QA is expensive, User acceptance testing is also. As is UX attention. Alpha tests and Beta- testing is expensive. But the biggest tax issue for tax-savings as a business, is the cost of re-design of existing software. And at least in the USA, companies avoid that cost of doing business, as the tax code favours new product development over re-engineering flawed existing products. Am i wrong ? Out of date ? What is the corporate tax situation in UK ?
I believe the firm grip of reality is slowly starting to slip, but this is perfect sense for the man who's not aware of the slowly slipping grip of his own reality.......
