Azumas are Diesel and Electric (AC) not AC and DC, just thought I'd point that out ;)

Edinburgh Waverly to Glasgow Central via Carstairs
    To Summerise
I think this route would be a perfect fit for TSW. It would be great to see as this is one of the mainline routes in Scotland. It has good scenery, it's very fast and it's not too long a route.

    Potential DLC:
    Class 385
    upload_2022-11-15_16-49-13.png

    LNER Class 43 HST

    Class 92 Caledonian Sleeper

That's because it is iconic. There is lots of it about it that is iconic. I felt using it alot made the point of how good a route this would be

Fantastic, would love a 92 in TSW, a much needed loco which could layer as AI on SEHS Extended and replace the 66 for HS1 freight ;)

Haha, yeah, like I said before it's underlooked as a way to link Scotland's two well known cities as people think Queen Street-Waverley and forget Central unless they have common sense and think either about this way or going via Shotts

Good suggestion, I would like to see the 80Xs in game as they are widespread across our mainline network and having spent much time around them in the past few years I have grown a strange fondness for them. Also just thought I should clear up for others that on this route the 80X would only wear the LNER Azuma livery not the GWR one.

Yep, agreed, had my experiences on an 800 and they are good units to ride on, ride quality - good, journey undertook - short but I am all to familiar with that journey (Arbroath-Dundee or vice versa) ;), also you can include 800104 in the same way as 395012 and 395025 appear on SEHS

This can merge with Cathcart Circle and owners of both routes get a 2019 timetable where Class 380 do stoppers with Class 314s Class 385 Rush hour only services

Nope. I love the sleeper. Sucha great train. Saw it all the time on my holidays in Fort William. It went right past the garden of the place we stayed in. So great!

How many of these actually run between Glasgow and Edinburgh though? Don't some of these only go south from Edinburgh? Seems like mostly the scotrail trains which will go along the route, the rest would be background/AI?

It says Glasgow is the end of the ECML, but I think Edinburgh is the end of that. WCML goes to both but not ECML.

I believe the Class 385's run a peak time service on the Carstairs Line. The Sleeper should run the whole way. And the HST is just a peak time 80x replacement

LNER run one train to London in the morning and a train comes from London which arrives in Glasgow at 9pm or so then stables at Polmadie Car M.D. for overnight servicing, hope this explains the choice of rolling stock used

Yes I occasionally get that one and I rather like the tartan on it.
LNER do run services from Kings Cross to Glasgow but as said above it is only the one a day however it does mean the 80X will be in game for any future modern mainline routes.

They are rather sleek and modern looking trains.
What I find funny is that you see an Azuma as rare but I have seen two whilst typing this and spend my whole day around them!

Agreed, Aberdeen get 4 southbound Azuma diagrams (3 to Kings X and 1 to Leeds) and 4 northbound diagrams (1 from Leeds and 3 from Kings X) a day, whereas Inverness on the other side of the Highlands get 1 southbound and 1 northbound a day, probably due to the single line sections on the Highland Mainline :)

Yup. It's pretty well served considering how far north the line is. The West Highland Line only gets about for trains a day that are all ScotRail only

The timetable won't be enough if it was just the 380 services, you have 4 LNER services you can do, 15 Sleeper services if you include S'bound and N'bound Lowlanders, Carstairs shunting, light loco movements to/from Polmadie for Edinburgh or Glasgow and ECS moves to/from Polmadie.

To bolster the timetable, why not include Lanark services with 380s first, then the 385s will take care of those if they come as DLC, happy days :)

Is the timetable 2022 or backdated a few years, if backdated yes the HST would sub in for the Azuma :), if the timetable is 2022, it would be Azuma-only sadly :(
