Hello folks, This is the official Q&A thread for the upcoming TSW November Roadmap livestream, which will take place tomorrow, November 6th, from 19:00 UTC on our YouTube and Twitch channels. If you have any questions you'd like to ask us, please post them here. General reminder to please keep all other discussions out of this thread, and remain to questions only. We may not answer all questions on the article/stream, but we will look through this thread in preparation and will look to respond to questions afterwards.
Will the roadmap be available today. Also will we see the mildmay extension and GWE remaster this side of Christmas. When is the east coastway, nuclear and preston -crewe dlc releasing. Thanks
Why do they keep posting the Q and A thread before the actual roadmap...? What lessons have been learned and will improvements be made regards to quality control, testing and assurance, especially as far as console platforms are concerned, after the rocky start with Birmingham to Crewe?
Will you continue to brush all of the complaints and raised points, regarding the Fife circle timetable update, under the carpet? Or will there be a consorted effort to address the failings and patch things up. Thank you
Why is there such different standards to trains in the game? Such as the new voyager, vectron, 720 are all excellent. But then there are trains such as the 146/186, dostos, 442 that are such low quality.
What happened to the update/patch that was planned and coming in the first week of November is coming tomorrow along with the roadmap?
Please comment on how you managed to introduce so many bugs, even with the help of players beta team? Why are you always rushing to release? Why are obvious bugs ignored and not fixed before release? Do you even perform basic testing (for example, checking for raindrops on windshields)? Why do bugs from older versions of rolling stock migrate to newer versions, even though they've been reported over 9,000 times? Do you read "feedback" threads? And most importantly, do you report to the dev team after reading them(if you)?
I have several older routes from TSW2 that I updated to the TSW6 version, such as East Coastway and GWE. Will any upcoming updates/upgrades apply to routes that were transferred to TSW6 from previous editions or will they somehow only be available to older routes that were bought as a TSW6 Add on? Thanks.
What lessons have been learned from the debacle that was the Birmingham to Crewe release, with the route still being in a bit of a state with further patches needed? What guidance are you giving to 3P’s as regards optimisation and asset management to ensure their routes run adequately on consoles and lower spec PC’s? Why does the Monthly Mastery nearly always mess up? Also what is happening with Support? My ticket regarding the failure of the Tier One distance to progress was promptly closed as “Solved”, despite not being and at the time of writing this, still not fixed. How many resources have been diverted to Metro Rivals that now seems to be leaving TSW running on the bare minimum of staffing? The impression I’m getting is that the management team has rapidly lost interest in TSW with the fear it will soon go the way of Catan, Fishing, VR and FSW. Will Metro Rivals be used as a test bed for UE5 reissue of TSW and will TSW6 be the final iteration of the game? What are your plans to address the fact the game is now saturated and bring in more diverse content, different countries and different eras, as there is less and less compunction to buy identical cyclostyled routes and trains? Leaving aside the issue of more save game slots which the EP has apparently filed in the low priority pile, what is the prospect of fixing the other issues specifically the loss of objective and schedule data when saving and loading a chained run and failing to save the player choice of weather conditions?
Blur, blur, blur Blah, blah, blah Fed up now with this issue and the constant lies being told by DTG to try to kick this can down this year long road What are you doing about it as had enough of the bull
Will long existing issues with the game that are "known and low in the priority list" finally be fixed to finally make the game more appealing again? If actual gamebreaking issues are at the top of the list, why are there no recent patch notes of those fixed? Perhaps concentrate on fixing smaller issues aswell, which would improve a lot of things. Perhaps also refer to my other Forum post on this.
Why is the 171 being released for East Coastway despite it being an old route and no plans to remaster it?
It's been more than a year since Frankfurt Fulda was released, and back then there was a lot of talk about performance and how they were going to address it. Now, over a year later, has anything really been done that made a difference? Yes, they claimed to have freed up some memory, but has that truly been a big success for consoles? No! In fact, they've only reduced route layers even further, essentially preserving the problem and solving it through a workaround. So I'm telling you now: they will never fix this without completely overhauling the game with massive changes and I seriously wonder if they can even afford that financially. But hey, that's something I've said many times before: they don't have a sensible solution. So live with it, and let your wallet do the talking if you disagree that's my advice.
What progress has been made regarding blurry textures for consoles since last month? Why was the fife circle class 158 timetable released in an unfinished state? Will future add-ons actually be tested on console? Will the class 377/4 from East Coastway receive updated features to the same standard as the class 377/3 when that releases? It'd be beyond ridiculous not to.
What is the current split between the platforms for TSW? Is it still around a third on each platform? We've had a few threads bringing up steam once again (yes we're still here!) and I was wondering if there was anything DTG could add on the subject? Are third parties still interested in steam like Alex mentioned? Have DTG done anything with the really great looking steam related content on the editor forums like the Pannier and Tallyn with regards to the Third party team?
Are you still planning to continue the business model of a "new" game each year? Given the fact that you seemingly always offer free starter packs now, would it not just make more sense to do a major seasonal update like Rush Hour for TSW2? Those who didn't want the new routes got the update and those who did paid for the route pack. From an outside perspective I fail to see how much more money this current system gets you, especially if you then need to certify a new game every year. Returning to seasonal updates would also prevent all the issues that seem to occur each time a new game is released regarding DLC entitlement, stuff not being immediately available on certain platforms and people needing to download hundreds of Gigabytes worth of content again. If the plan is to continue the yearly games, please can you explain the rationale behind that decision?
As blurry textures are a being featured on increasingly more routes, will this start to be communicated? Will players be told in streams, articles etc. when blurry textures will be present, or will it be a case of letting players find out for themselves? Are routes actually being tested on consoles, and if they are then why are you not picking up on the blurry textures issues? DTG seem to act surprised when a route has blurry textures, making me think that they probably don't test routes on console. Is there a point in players posting issues on the route feedback threads more than a month after an add-on releases? It's rare to see DTG presence on those feedback threads once a route has been out for a few weeks. What happened with the recent Fife Circle timetable "upgrade", I've heard it was based on an emergency timetable but I'm hoping for an answer as to why this decision was made? If this is true it's quite laughable that a timetable would be based around an emergency timetable with less services, especially when the community has waited over a year for it. When routes are tested, do DTG chose to ignore some glaring issues or are they just not found?
With the influx of new 3rd party developers, on top of the existing ones like Rivet and JT, providing a steady income stream, are Dovetail Games going to be in a position to redirect resources to investigate the core problems that we are all talking about? It does seem that each DLC release pushes the game further away from playable, especially to those on console. I believe that TSW is now at a point where time and money has to be spent solving the core game problems. If this is done, EVERY route and DLC benefits from it. Can you please confirm that you are now undertaking a serious review and resourcing of this?
Can you please update on progress on problems with Riviera Line, in particular red light problems and the disappearing sea around Dawlish and the sea turning black on the approach to Paignton.
I'm being missing the high level of communication that we had reached some years ago..... My first question is: What's happening? The second is: wich direction you will planned for TSW now that you have a lot of other game on the table?
When can we expect comprehensive fixes to the core issues that are now proving to be problematic and present on nearly every route? It is getting to the point where core issues aren't exclusive to one or two routes, and are now affecting routes across the board and the problems are only getting worse, not better. It feels pointless releasing/advertising any further DLC until comprehensive fixes are made, otherwise customers are going to be paying money for DLC that will inherit core issue problems from the start (blurryness), and that isn't fair on the customer/player. I am used to hearing "this is being looked at", and I am a patient person, but these issues have got progressively worse and are effecting every element of the game. Can we have any reassurances that core issues such as blurryness (which is one of the biggest core issues) are being looked into and if so, what exactly is being done to remedy it, and what comprehensive fixes can we look forward too? At the moment it feels like we get passed off with "it's being looked into", and nothing of substance seems to happen outside of a few 'plaster' fixes. We need to hear what work is being done to overcome this issues for one, and make sure the issues are given the property attention they deserve. The game is becoming completely unplayable and as players I think we deserve honesty, and a detailed and comprehensive break down of what is going to be done to resolve core issues. We to often hear all the right noises, but nothing that comes with any substance. So can be finally expect to substance to match the words?
I started a thread about this last month that there have been at least 5 instances in the past year where wrong builds have been released on launch days for the game or DLCs. Although they typically get rectified within hours, it's not a good look from a professionalism standpoint. So has there been any internal review of processes to ensure this is not happening in future? Will there be another winter survey in the coming months which will be used to determine features for the next game?
Further to the Fife Circle issue, why on earth were the Class 158 sounds and physics nerfed, nay ruined, from the original MML release and Scotrail reskin, which were almost perfect.? Are you planning to restore the original parameters, please?
Any progress on a fix for the bug where many AI trains incorrectly display ‘Not in Service‘ on their PIS?
Has the problem with TSW6 affecting the WCMLoS Preston-Carlisle DLC (missing or duplicate class 87s, multiple repeating class 08, 47 and 101 entries and the missing class 86 despite it’s add on being installed) been identified and a fix planned? And is this the same problem causing the missing Multi-Level Commuter Cab Car NJT on NY-Trenton? I’m on PS5 and have raised tickets but am unwilling to move forward with TSW6 until this is resolved. FYI, the work arounds like ‘restore license’ no longer works since the 28th Oct patch and deleting other add ons is inconsistent: for me delete the 390 DLC I get the 86 back, delete Cajon Pass I lose the 87!
When are you going to fix trophies not showing up in Playstation Account - they only show up locally ( REF https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/trophies-not-appearing-on-the-ps4-version.94470/ ) ?
I've tried to log some tickets recently, but the portal has been unavailable. So, do you know anything about any or all of these issues, and if they are in the next patch? The third service in the BR 363 chapter of the new Dresden route journey has no information listed and is unplayable. There are two services in the BR 294 journey that instantly SPAD (53383 Part 2 and 53387 Part 1) The DB BR 193 and BR 294 only give 35 AP for all safety systems, not the expected 65. On FTF, all the freight services need only 350-600 points for platinum medals. The NJT multilevels don't allow for passengers to get on or off the low level doors, only the high level doors (and most of the platforms are low levels on Morristown). There is supposedly a patch coming with third-party fixes for the BR 194 pack, including no scoring for medals in journey mode and no train arrival times in timetable mode, and other fixes. Is there a third-party patch coming? Thank you for whatever can be reasonably addressed.
