Ok, TSW5 is on its way. Most likely we can expect TSW6 next year. And in the meantime, various routes will appear that you (at least I) also want to play. Wouldn't it be much better if there was a subscription for TSW? TSW+ Pay a monthly amount so you no longer have to buy DLC. If you stop the subscription, you will also lose all DLC. If such a subscription existed, I would certainly be interested in it. A TSW+ for the PS5, XBox or Steam. Perhaps with something tiny extra for the paying members. I can imagine even more. A real TSW Premium Subscription. Everything from TSW+ as I described above, but both Consoles and PC. Then you can easily switch between TSW on the console to the computer.
As long as I can still buy DLC outright, this provides more options for people while maintaining income for DTG. How much do you think it should cost?
I can't think of an answer to that. I'm very curious what Dovetail thinks about this and what they would like to ask as a price. You buy the base game. You can always buy a DLC. New players can easily join with only the training center with a few trains. Just like that free upgrade. This way, for example, you can buy all future Dutch routes and include the rest in a TSW+ subscription.
Nah i like it how it is… You buy it then it’s yours forever. Also I love your Profile Pic. Looks……Familiar.
The idea by TSC was to bring a monthly subscription to try get the last financial water drops out of this nearly dead game. TSC is for new train fans not the game to get and i think they can better put their efforts in TSW and close the doors for TSC. I will now get a few people angry but i dont believe they get any good results from to try to fix performance issues and bugs.... It was a mission but they failed and now i believe its time to move on. Let 3rd party create stuff but for DTG stop support and move on and target y'oure staff on TSW.
The idea of a subscription service definitely isn’t as bad as what people think, it’s good, for new players at least, for ogs however, who have most likely owned most dlc, it’s a bit useless. as long as dlc aren’t locked behind it, it can go ahead
TSW+ would unlock a lot of routes,... {imo} I can imagine different scenarios. Get all routes in TSW+ but you have to purchase additional locomotives in a DLC When you purchase a route you will receive a number of locomotives Expert Locomotives will only remain available for purchase as DLC. etc
Whilst I do not agree with this if such as subscription became a thing, I think it would be better to also include an Annual Subcription option instead. Monthly could be around £15 whilst Annual could be the same price as the average route DLC at £24.99. Annual could also get extra perks that aren't avaliable to Monthly Subcribers such as early access to DLC or any merch for the current or future TSW game that employees of DTG are often seen wearing on their YouTube Channel
They would also need to restrict how much dlc you have access to for subs to stay at a reasonable price i would think any route (released by dtg) in a year time would be eligible then after that you can only buy it
Just… no. Either buy outright what you want and keep it until the Sun goes supernova, or I’ll go and play something else.
I'm not exactly sure about this. I'm paying enough for tsw as it is let alone a new subscription if it comes to place.
the one in TSC is bad at best. 120 A YEAR for some lousey routes. Heck most of the are the 20 dollar ones, so please no dovetail
I think it would work only if the original (or current) way of owning a DLC forever is maintained, and the subscription a separate service (sort of like how Paradox Interactive operates). Would suck massively if TSW became SAAS trash.
Except what you already have purchased before you bought the subscription that's what stays when the subscription expires. You keep what was already purchased prior
I'd only be interested if you could still buy DLC as you can now, and that there would be no subscription exclusive content.
The only way I can see a subscription model working is to give you the opportunity to trial DLCs to see if they pique your interest, and if so, you're given the option to buy and keep.
I'm fine with subscriptions existing as long as the current way of obtaining DLC remains, and that there is absolutely no subscription exclusive content. It should just be another way for new users to access the catalogue, nothing else.
