    Quarter Finals
Hello all, welcome to the rounds which have a name. 12 routes remain - six will continue.

No group stages from here on out - it's do or die.

For the Quarters I've attempted to keep routes from the same section apart in the draw. (I'm doing this as I type so this may come true or it may not)

    1a. Great Western Express
    1b. NEC Boston - Providence

    2a. Linke Rheinstrecke
    2b. WCML Over Shap

    3a. Frankfurt - Fulda
    3b. WCML South

    4a. Riviera Line
    4b. Morristown Line

    5a. Sand Patch Grade
    5b. Mittenwaldbahn

    6a. LIRR Commuter
    6b. Frankfurt S-Bahn

This vote will run for 48 hours - so over Christmas into Boxing Day.

Looking at that selection, some interesting ties. A battle of TSW 5 Core Routes in Tie 3 and a battle of TSW6 Cors Routes in Tie 4. Tie 6 will be interesting with a relatively similar pair of routes from the US and Germany. Can GWE's fairytale run continue?

    Rules
Same as ever, 6 votes for 6 ties.

    Some very tough choices here!

I wonder. Are people voting for GWE as it is or as they anticipate it will be?

Personally I would say that while the GWE route itself doesn't look great, the fact it comes with multiple new types of rolling stock (class 43 and multiple Mk3 types, class 66, HKA and FKA wagons, class 166 in GWR and FGW liveries) makes it pretty good. I can't imagine DTG making that much new rolling stock now, even for a new country

Looks like this will be the end of all the US routes in the voting.

We just don't have enough routes to really compete. Only Morristown is newish. LIRR still has an outside chance to make the semis at least.

There was an element of anticipation in my vote for GWE, yes. However also weighed in the fact I find the Providence line rather dreary (Worcester is much nicer), dealt with day to day operations between Paddington and Reading when I was in the Control so the route brings back memories (not all good!) plus no tedious 10 MPH drag in and out of the terminus on GWE.

Yes, that was a tough vote for me. I still like BPE, especially now it has the HSP 46. But GWE, even the original, is also a favorite because of the varied stock with the DLotGW.

I was surprised and disappointed that SPG was so thoroughly spanked by Mittenwaldbahn and that Morristown didn't show up.

As said above, US routes didn't impress.

I do not for the life of me understand how Morristown is doing so well, because either A) DTG made a horrible route, or B) DTG did an outstanding job of modeling the very worst trains in the world. Either way, those NJT junkers are undrivable pieces of LOVE. I have no idea what sort of hallucinogen in the water supply has deluded a large number of people into actually liking them, like men lusting after warthogs and Rosie O'Donnell.

I might suggest that a lot of the support for Morristown is just a 'US vs UK' type of voting as is typical at this stage of the tournament.
Riviera would probably court the neutral vote I'd imagine.

Probably the delusion that they vaguely look like NYC Subway trains. But I have to agree, after all the hype it was a rather disappointing driving experience. If AVL or SBO had been pitched against Morristown I would probably have voted for the Cali routes and I have little love for those, either. I just live in hope that when Metro Rivals crashes and burns like Project Motor Racing has apparently done for Giants (putting future fixes and development of Farm Sim in jeopardy apparently) , DTG will have enough resources left to do a proper NYC Subway, which I could almost guarantee would be an instant winner in this competition for years to come.

Well I have to disagree with you guys. I don't know how much you've driven the route, but in my opinion, it easily beats out most of the other US commuter routes, with the possible exception of LIRR2

The route is very detailed and looks very authentic to me. The stations are very well modeled and the rolling stock is excellent, particularly the Arrow3, which has really good sounds based on my admittedly limited experience riding it.

The one glaring omission is the absence of any freight movement, which also affects NYT and other area routes.

But personally, I'm enjoying Morristown. And I certainly didn't vote based on " US vs UK" bias. Actually I found it difficult to favor it over Riviera, which I enjoy about equally.

Freight is one reason I voted against it when it was up against Worcester, as that route had that tacked on to the MBTA stuff (You just needed alot of DLC to get the full experience.)

IRL there's very little freight on the Morristown lines (none in my experience, commuting from Summit and Berkeley Heights).

The route itself is fine, but the trains are awful

I agree and I absolutely love the arrow. Knew that would be a love hate one for me and I’m pleased I love it. The NJT cab car has always been a pet hate of mine but I like the route so much that it doesn’t bother me.

It’s become my favourite US route too with LIRR2 like yourself.

That said, I prefer the locos on the Boston routes in terms of how they drive but that’s life - and it’s a simulator
