Welcome back to the 24/25 TSW World Cup! We've got a few new routes joining us this year, including WCML South, the Suffragette Line, Rivet Games' Fife Circle and Leven Lines, and Just Trains' WCML Over Shap, as well as remasters to West Somerset Railway and Cathcart Circle. >> This will run from 12:00 UTC, 15/12 to 18:00 UTC, 16/12. The poll will be added at this time. << Let's look at the line-up. Group A Southeastern Highspeed West Cornwall Local WCML: Preston - Carlisle Island Line 2022 West Somerset Railway A potentially tasty group with two routes which ultimately should be hoping for the title together. A tough ride for Rivet here as their two routes look set for a relegation scrap (hint, hint...) Group B Midland Mainline Birmingham Cross-City London Commuter Northern Transpennine Glossop Line A rather unremarkable group in my opinion, all routes you'd probably fire in the "quite good, but not great" category, and maybe drive once every now and again. The obvious exception to this is London Commuter, of course. Group C Suffragette Line / GOBLIN Great Western Express East Coastway Isle of Wight Spirit of Steam This group has TSW2020's shining lights (too shiny in ECW's case), as well as a modern beacon of hope in the form of the GOBLIN. One third-party entry here from Rivet, while Spirit of Steam chugs into this group as well. Group D Cathcart Circle Line Bakerloo Line WCML South Peak Forest Railway East Coast Mainline Group D pits the Bakerloo Line against... itself? kind of?... As well as putting West Coast against East Coast. The remastered Cathcart Circle and Peak Forest join the two mainlines. Group E Edinburgh - Glasgow Tees Valley Line Fife Circle & Leven Lines Blackpool Branches Group E pits champion Blackpool Branches against fellow BR Blue route Tees Valley Line, while Rivet's Edinburgh Derby rounds off the group. Voting Each member will be given Five votes. It is encouraged that you only vote for one route per group. Blank ( . ) options will be in the poll for spacing reasons, and if you decide you don't want to vote for anything you can throw a vote at these. If you absolutely cannot pick between two routes in a group then you can vote for both although it's best if you don't. Have people seen WCCL? Seriously it is in an awful state, even after Liam's hard work. A couple of other routes there which I am also questioning whether people have seen the state of the route in TSW, but this is the biggest.
West Coast Commuter Line. The route doesn't include any sort of mainline services with it so I have and will continue to refuse to call this route WCML.
Oh yeah I get it now, and your also right, it’s a bit sad to see a route in this weirdly unfinished state
I think the group helps it TBH. Cathcart - my pick in that group (bias) - is a commuter-only route so doesn't really trump WCML in that regard, even if I think it's better. Bakerloo Line is the same as the Bakerloo Line on WCML except it lacks DC Line traffic, any Mainline AI but does have the Tunnel. Peak Forest is a bang average Steam route and ECML is pretty one-dimensional. I think if WCMLS was up against WCMLOS it would be a very different story for the South.
I’ve just been playing SimRail and the new Krakow section stands head and shoulders above WCMLS, or as you rightly call it WCCL!
I wonder if the votes for WCML South are more because of the Pendolino, a highly requested and decent train (for those who have it, and I guess most that own the route will), rather than the route itself?
I have seen it and am enjoying it as are several others. Yes it has some issues still but so do most routes.
Surprised to see WCMLoS not the clear leader we thought it would be. Getting a good run off BML and SEHS. Then again, like any route, once you’ve driven it a few times the novelty starts to wear and it does seem to be suffering performance issues which in turn are ruining the Class 87 sounds in particular.
