The EMD SW7 was a diesel switcher locomotive built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division between October 1949 and January 1951. It was powered by a 1,200 horsepower (895 kW)12-567A engine. The SW7 replaced the earlier 1,000 horsepower NW2 switcher in EMD's catalog. A total of 489 SW7 locomotives were produced At over 70 years old (30 years old set in the time period at clinchfield) this loco is quite old The EMD NW2 is a 1,000 hp (750 kW), B-B switcher locomotive manufactured by General Motors Electro- Motive Division of La Grange, Illinois. The NW2 was manufactured from February 1939 to December 1949 These trains will be amazing for clinchfield railroad as it adds more shunting and yard work to the route
I really hope DTG does have loco DLC's planned for Clinchfield, would be a shame to have the route as good as it is, then just completely abandoned the route for any new locos. Hopefully we'll see some once Rush Hour is out....
There’s so much more to be done with CRR. I’ve nearly completed everything and I’ve only had it a few weeks. Lots of scope for switching and loading duties. If a switcher comes it will most likely be one loco not a pack with two in it though, that’s asking a bit much.
Agreed. I‘m just finishing up the Nora turn at which point I‘ll have done everything (apart from some mainline runs) at least once. There is still loads of potential - almost no loading services and a lot of hoppers along the mainline with which there is as yet no interaction. I think that means that DTG kept the door open for both a switcher and a road switcher (GP7 maybe?) and we might end up getting one or in the best case scenario both as loco DLC at some point.
