Experience the pinnacle of high-speed travel in the UK and bustling commuter services with WCML South: London Euston - Birmingham in Train Sim World 2

The West Coast Main Line as it is today was not initially intended as a single line stretching from London to Glasgow, it was instead many smaller, individual lines that gradually linked up from the 1830s to the 1880s.

The London and Birmingham Railway opened their section in 1838, making it the first inter-city line to be built into London, it started from the city’s Euston station and made the 113-mile trip to Birmingham Curzon Street, calling at the likes of Rugby and Coventry en route.

    the rolling stock:

The British Rail Class 390 Pendolino is a type of electric high-speed passenger train operated by Avanti West Coast in the United Kingdom, leased from Angel Trains. They are electric multiple units using Fiat Ferroviaria's tilting train Pendolino technology and built by Alstom

these will run 133 services across the route
    [IMG]

The Class 221 Super Voyager is a class of tilting diesel-electric multiple-unit express passenger trains built in Bruges, Belgium, by Bombardier Transportation in 2001/02.

these will run 96 services along the route

    scenarios:

voyaging london: drive a class 221 voyager from birmingham to london euston

storm into birmingham: drive a pendolino from euston to birmingham

rugby reliable: drive a class 390 from rugby to london euston to pick up holidaymakers

depot move: run a class 221 to the depot after a long hard day

Class 377 from ECW needs to be here because it's the Milton Keynes to Clapham Junction then onwards to Brighton train. If you look at the third car on Class 377 it's for a Pantograph. therefore the missing Pantagraph on the third car roof will be added and a tutorial on how to activate the Pantograph provided East Coastway Players want this route.

This is a brilliant Idea but I would rather have the 350 instead of the 221. Whilst it would be nice to have a diesel express train included as well, I think it would be best to have a mix. Also, throw in the 378 Capitalstar for Watford DC line action!

Sounds very good! I'd like to see some tilting action, and a British electrified mainline. Maybe it would be better to have the route come with the 350 as standard, so the route has something for the stopping services. The 221s could then make a very good DLC :).

Unfortunately, nothing happened in the TSW world. While the community was discussing the proposed route map, a flight from London to Glasgow had been implemented on a simulated train.
How long does it take to solve the game save problem? Is there a long way to go to solve the game save problem? How long will TSW have a good open SDK? Will closed development hinder the development of TSW?
Today, there are only three third-party studios in TSW. When can we see more third-party studios? DTG, I remember correctly. At the beginning of the year, it is said that more third-party studios joined the development plan? It's almost summer, and they did not appear in the road map!

59321747 Please do not completely change the topic of a thread to voice your frustrations. This thread is a suggestion, and unless you have an opinion on the OP's suggested route you should take your other feedback to the relevant section of the forums.

And I thought dtg members don't respond to the suggestion thread. I guess the rules have changed.

I do like the suggestion though. The class 390 and 221 would make great trains

Well you do actually have a relevant comment. There is absolutely no point suggesting long routes until the save game can be guaranteed to retain the task data and details. It has already become something of an issue with Clinchfield, when doing the longer jobs.

Yeh the save game needs to be fixed. Not everyone would want to sit for 2 hours to do a service on the wcml in one go. I think if were gonna get 100+ long routes the save function needs to be fixed

I feel this route could be a little too long but god knows, dovetail really need to add more British stock from around the UK, not just focusing on London and the South East. British gameplay is becoming extremely monotonous. Especially seeing as we really only have 3rd rail EMU’s. This route could really bring a lot to Train Sim World however personally I would love to see some Wales and Borders routes as I think they would add a bit of diversity. Like I said this is a really great suggestion and I do hope to see this or something similar in the future.

Yes I agree it’s something for dtg to consider when they have the compatible technology to do stuff like this, right now it’s just not ready for 100+ mile long routes

Great suggestions within this thread. The opportunities are tremendous for this route. AC locomotives and EMU's of various eras from the 1960s onwards. Also really want to drive the Voyager family of DEMUs. The current Avanti livery is quite stylish too.

What happened to Virgin Trains that used to operate this line? Did they go bankrupt or something?

Their contract was terminated early (i believe due to poor performance). Avanti then took over.

It wasn’t terminated early. It was just the end of the franchise and when it came to the bidding, Virgin/Stagecoach/MTR lost the bid to
First Group/Trenitalia. Stagecoach had a problem with pensions so I can’t remember if this made Virgin/Stagecoach ineligible or not for the new franchise. But the previous franchise was not terminated early. You’ll notice both bids have an international operator (Trenitalia and MTR) because the Dft wanted high speed experience as this franchise is to include HS2.

Oh, I just realised are you getting confused with Virgin Trains East Coast? They handed the franchise back early. East Coast have always had problems but West Coast has been profitable.

That is likely where I was incorrect by mixing up the WCML and ECML franchises. There was a discrepancy which made the bid unviable.

This is legit one of the routes I'd most love to see in TSW2. Euston- Birmingham with 350s and 390s? I don't think I'd ever touch any other route in the game! I think Voyagers would be better as DLC as the services they run are the same as the 390s. The 377s run from suburban London to Milton Keynes on this route too, so they could easily be added as well (if they were willing to model a pantograph for the train of course).

I feel the same way. I know there are only two routes but I'm already tired of third rail stock. Hopefully more future British routes explore other parts of the country.
