In 1913, the Tomakomai Light Railway opened a 2 ft 6 in gauge rail line between Tomakomai and Tomikawa, running along the south coast of Hokkaido, Japan’s second largest island. Additionally, there was also a line between Tomikawa and Shizunai, operated by the Hidaka Takushoku Railway. In 1927, both railway companies were nationalised to form the Hidaka Line, and from 1929 until 1931, the now-unitary coastal route was re-laid using the more commonly used 3 ft 6 in “Cape” gauge. Further developments would continue, such as the extension of the line to Hidaka-mitsuishi in 1933 and the eventual terminus at Samani in 1937 The locos: The KiHa 130 series (キハ130系) was a class of diesel multiple unit (DMU) trains operated from November 1988 to June 2001 by the Hokkaido Railway Company (JR Hokkaido) on the Hidaka Main Line in Japan. If added to the game it's the first 1.067m track gauge diesel route and for Kiha 40 it operates like a Class 101 DMU Thomas and Friends Daisy due to the gearbox mechanism. After April 1, 2021, the section Mukawa-Samani 116km (72 mi distance) became a rail replacement bus service due to storm damage from 2015. Therefore the route must be set before 2015. The route video is from a fellow TSW forum member Purno's youtube channel.
I agree these trains are actually quite similar to the class 121 bubble cars which I was quite used to on my local line
If not used to class 101 NTP TVL then practice the gear changing mechanism on KiHa 130 but braking is easier since the Kiha 130 is an air brake-equipped DMU. Unlike Class 101 Vaccum brakes due to them being a pain in the arse to stop if you are not used to the vacuum brake DMU.
