Recently, Dovetail has acknowledged the lack of U.S. routes. With the graphics engine and physics of TSW2, what better way to add on to the U.S. route listing than by adding Raton Pass or Donner Pass? Two classics that could really showcase scenery and challenging grades.
Raton Pass cant happen due to the BNSF licensing restrictions. Donner Pass is a possibility, but it may need to be cut down in length to meet TSW2 development times.
Solid point, thanks for the info. Both are good routes but of course Soldier Summit and Steven Pass are too. I'll keep my eyes peeled for the future.
Well, yes. BNSF is the only railroad to have its brand only in the US. Hence the licensing issue to the rest of the world.
Is it really completely off the table though? Even assuming that DTG themselves never do anything unbranded in TSW (and mind you South Wales Coastal & the new NEC route both feature unbranded content) DTG is willing to let third parties make unbranded versions of BNSF content as shown with both Raton & Montana Hi-Line. I would say it's probably not high on the priority list, but I wouldn't say it's never gonna happen.
I would not go as far as saying that it is completely off the table. But the only way to make BNSF routes would be a third party developer. But having read an article in Trains Magazine about them getting a new female CEO, now could be a good chance for DTG to go back and see would could/might possibly happen now.
Personally, I'd like to see Norfolk Southern's S line and Saluda line, as well as the line between Huntington and Hinton in West Virginia make it into TSW2.
