The Shanghai Maglev Train, also known as the Transrapid, uses magnetic levitation to move without the need to touch the ground or use wheels on rails, giving it a much smoother and quieter ride than wheeled mass transit systems. The Transrapid is also the fastest commercial train currently in operation, with a top operating speed of 430 km/h (270mph), although the train recorded 501 km/h (311mph) during testing. experience the city of Shanghai, and fastest train line in the world with TSW2 Shanghai Maglev Operating 30km from Pudong International Airport to Pudong, Shanghai This route would definitely be very fun for train sim world getting to drive a train via magnetic power and run the fastest train line in the world
Based on the TS2021 version, I think not. As from my understanding, you don't actually drive the train at all, you just press a button and the train does the rest. It is also one of the most negativly reviewed routes on TS2021.
That’s true yes, but I think it will be a very fun route to drive either way, I would buy it just for the laughs I think Imagine running the Lirr m3 on the line now that would be very funny
Even with off the rails mode it would be physically impossible to get a conventional train onto a maglev train. You might buy it for the laughs, however not many people would buy the route itself as it's just automatic.
Correct even better is something like this how about Shanghai Metro Line 2 and that has LZB HMA S-Bahn like service pattern due to automatic Train control. Length is 64 km (40 miles) 16 km (10 miles) shorter than Sand Patch Grade 80 km (50 miles). The thing with that route it has platform screen doors like the London Underground Jubilee line extension
The Maglev went down like a lead balloon on release, especially as it was full price initially. I think all involved recognise it was a mistake in hindsight as the route takes about 7 mins end to end, it's ATO and the TS engine struggled to handle the speeds. For the way things are going it's unlikely any new maglevs will have drivers - the new L0 trains for the Chuo maglev don't even have windows in the front!
It's ATO Level 2 - so has a staff member to work doors and press "ATO START" - they sit in one of the cabs. The Japanese maglev is ATO level 3 - so has a conductor doing doors and passenger safety but no driver or cab (think DLR)
TSW is all about driving trains and this just doesn’t fit with it. Its location is probably a huge barrier to it being made even if DTG run out of better routes to make, which they won’t.
The same way as ATO Level 2 Afb with LZB SKA & HMA DB BR403 & 406. Also my suggestion the Austrian Westbahn Salzburg Wien Hbf where it's used on Schnellfahrstrecke Wien St Polten segment.
Bought this route on TS when it was about €5 and wish I hadn't. I spent longer learning which buttons to press and when than actually doing any driving, and overall I wish I'd spent the fiver on a beer and watched a cab video on Youtube. There was nothing wrong with the execution of it, is the worst part - I think it would simply be impossible to do it in any sort of interesting way.
