I hope everyone can import everything fine when tsw4 comes out because my import failed to impress me because of tsw3 import when half my routes didnt import for some odd reason because I have kept trying and trying for ages and ages but it never imported the following routes I had: London commuter Rapid Transit Great Western Express Long Island Rail Road Main Spessart Bahn Northern Transpennine If it don't work in tsw4 then I have wasted around over £170 on those routes that would not import.
When ypu buy a new TSW game, all owned add ons are automatically available for download. Or at least they usually are (unless stated otherwise).
Just a correction to the terminology used. You do not "import" or "transfer" add-ons. As mentioned by jack#9468 the TSW 4 versions of add-ons you own on the same platform and account are automatically available to download at launch based on entitlements from your digital purchases. If you own any previous games on disc (Xbox & PlayStation only) you will need to contact Dovetail Support to add the included add-ons to your account, unless you have already done this with a previous game.
slightly on topic here, do the route collectibles we've collected on routes in tsw3 transfer over to tsw4? It would be nice if so, otherwise i'm gonna have to spend some time re-collecting the route posters from my tsw3 routes in tsw4!
They did import along with your profile from TSW2 to TSW3, so that's likely to happen again for TSW4. If you like to have all route tasks completed, this is all good, and you don't need to collect them all again. However, if there's an achievement you want to unlock, the import does not help you. As far as I have seen in TSW3, achievements pop when the game notices that you've completed the requirement. So, if it's an achievement for miles driven with a locomotive or on a route, simply starting a service with the loco or on that route will be sufficient to unlock the achievement in TSW3. The game looks at the total distance driven, sees the requirement fulfilled, and so it pops the achievement. However, if the achievement is for something with limited number, like route tasks or route scenarios, playing an imported profile with all the tasks/scenarios completed will not unlock the achievement. For such achievements, one would need to start a fresh profile and complete the route tasks or scenarios from scratch. NB: the above are my observations playing TSW3 with profile imported from TSW2.
Scenarios and tutorials marked as completed should now unlock achievements when you replay them in TSW4 (roadmap stream - progress transfer part). So this time there may not be a need to create a new profile for those achievement types. Route tasks have no way to trigger if all have been collected. Hopefully it will be sorted.
thanks for the responce appreciate it! I don't really look for the achievements anymore (i did in tsw2 but don't bother anymore) i just like the collectibles to be collected so the route looks better (like i mean if there are route maps on a platform, i like them to be collected so it shows the route map instead of a blank white board if that makes sense!) I don't like the idea of having to go around and find them all again (especially on big routes like london-brighton) so it will be really useful if they transfer across!
My English is not the best, did you hear out if we just have to finish one tutorial/scenario for that, so that it sees by finishing one thag all requirements are fulfilled, or we need to do all of them again?
Said if you complete a tutorial or scenario again, the achievement should unlock. I don't know if it checks to see if all have been completed upon finishing one... hopefully.
These were copied from TSW4 FAQ My experience from TSW2 to TSW3 was mixed good and bad. Similar to what yardem mentions, I had to create a new profile in TSW3 just to redo some of the achievements I had previously completed. I try to finish all achievements in a route, so this is important to me. I hope the TSW4 transfer allows an easier way.
