DTG usually delist older base versions of TSW during Steam sales, to stop people getting better discounts, but there is no Steam sale going on as I post this. So I'm not sure if a TSW Steam sale is about to hit, or if TSW2, TWS3 and TSW4 are being permanently delisted this time. Any ideas?
Maybe they've finally decided no one should buy older versions of TSW. Makes perfect sense. Why pay for it, when TSW5 has a free option?
Honestly that makes sense. Might as well just rename TSW5 to simply be TSW and stop with the annual re-releases.
Considering all previous iterations are already delisted, how would it confuse anyone? Just give up with the yearly re-releases, forget about TSW2020, 2, 3, 4 ever existed and just keep a single product simply called TSW.
maybe dtg should do what 343 did to halo series and combine all the tsw games in to one big group call it tsw collection. they can keep making tsw in yearly released but it be put in collection group.
TSW would be better. TSW2020-TSW5 are pretty much the same simulator with minor updates for each iteration. I really hope DTG just calls it TSW in the future. I don't think there is a need to create a brand new TSW each year
Next year they will either call it Train Sim World: Special Edition, or rebrand it as World Of Train Sim. Mind it isn’t just DTG who do this sort of thing. I reinstalled Skyrim last night as I fancied a quick bit of questing, to discover the original version (the one I own) and DLC has been delisted. If you want the up to date game and DLC you need to pay again for the SE which is £35 without a sale and no recognition of already owning the OG version. Good old Bethesda. This for a 14 year old game of which 90% of the content and gameplay is what I already own!
DTG will always need their annual refresh whether its in the form of a new game (TSWx) or a Rush Hour-esque pack (But they are heavily leaning towards the former....RH was just a once off) TS Classic seemingly was going to drop the annual releases as well and just stay known as 'Train Simulator Classic" -- but even that has been backtracked and we now have TS Classic 2024
That would just be as simple as removing the '5' from TSW5 and having it as a permanent core. Also, the Halo MCC is totally incomparable to TSW.
Damn, I didn't even know that and I just noticed. WHY? Who at DTG thinks this is a good idea? What is the point?
Apparently it has caused confusion with things like steam key resale sites with people getting a different bundle to what was expected/advertised.
It's fairly irrelevant, the game is the same no matter if you buy TS2013 or TSClassic2024. It's only the name that changes and the included routes. It's not a different app as TSW iterations are. You'll get RailWorks.exe v77.6b no matter what.
I know, but it's still annoying and pointless. Selling a game that dates back all the way to 2007 with 2024 in it's name is just ridiculous.
When the next iteration of TSC releases, probably early 2025, maybe the version 77.6 will officially be 78.1? One can hope all the bugs lately with TSC get sorted
