this route is part of the WCML which goes from London Euston to Glasgow The line was electrified during the 1960s and after subsequent upgrade programmes, now features a mixture of Mk1 and UK1 catenary equipment. Much of the line has a maximum speed of 125mph (201km/h) meaning Class 390 Pendolinos and Class 221 ‘Super Voyagers’ can make the journey in a little over five hours. It is also one of the busiest freight routes in Europe, carrying more than 40% of all UK rail freight traffic. the locos: The British Rail Class 350 Desiro is a class of electric multiple-unit passenger train built by Siemens Mobility between 2004 and 2014. The British Rail Class 390 Pendolino is a type of electric high-speed passenger train operated by Avanti West Coast in the United Kingdom, leased from Angel Trains. They are electric multiple units using Fiat Ferroviaria's tilting train Pendolino technology and built by Alstom. The Class 66 is a type of six-axle diesel-electric freight locomotive developed in part from the Class 59, for use on the railways of the UK. Since its introduction the class has been successful and has been sold to British and other European railway companies. In Continental Europe it is marketed as the EMD Class 66 the map the WCML has very busy freight along the route, being the highest density of freight trains in Britain, carrying over 40% of the uk's rail freight
DiRFT would have to be a "spur off the end" of this rather than a via, but yeah would be a good route. Approx 55 miles, high speed runs with good freight action too
In Train Simulator (classic) 2021 The east coast route is divided into four, yes and they're all far longer than any individual route in TSW to date That's not how it works. Although the routes may well look much the same (depending on when the route is set as there may well be big changes in some places, especially around Leeds etc) the whole route would have to be recreated London to Peterborough - released eight years ago Peterborough to York - Three years ago (updated "modern" version) York to Newcastle - only available third party, released about six years ago Newcastle to Edinburgh - released six years ago
I don't mind this route on TS but it can be a bit linear (always driving from A to B) and the stopping services end abruptly at Colwich Junction (which isn't really an ideal stop/start point) but otherwise is a great route. Include a Class 66 with some freight wagons, a Class 350 and a Class 390 and you'd have a good traction line-up (another reason to get the Class 380 on Cathcart is that bits could be reused on a Class 350 for such route *potentially*).
Great suggestion, is there another freight locomotive that could be included instead of the Class 66? only it would be nice to have some variety in UK freight as we could have the 66 as a layer to substitute another loco/service
Excellent information and starting in 2015 onwards London to Peterborough gets the Class 801 as standard train. Even though route was released on 12/5/13 for our forum users in the European Union and UK it's 5/12/13 5 December 2013
Two of these trains have unique capabilities Class 88 Diesel Mode and 25kv 50hz. While Class 92 has 25kv 50hz 750v DC the cab has AWS TPWS DSD for WCML and High Speed 1 channel tunnel French routes 25kv 50hz VACMA KVB TVM-430. The reason for that is why it's included in the class 92 has to operate in or out of Calais-Fréthun towards Barking yards using UIC Continental Europe loading gauge if the freight was loaded with UK Loading Gauge wagons then Calais-Fréthun Channel Tunnel Daventry via Barking service.
