So my dad was playing TSW3 on the PS4, he loves it. We were talking about how much quieter the fan was when running the trains. However we noticed whenever we paused the game or returned to the main menu the fan on the PS4 got intense and loud, like it dose with certain other games. However I'm finding it a bit weird as you'd expect it to be the other way round.

Other things to note is the frame rate (not that it bothers my dad) would stutter in some places. I assume it's being worked on but my dad mentioned that every time we exit the tunnels we gotta wear sunglasses, but remarked how much better being in the tunnels were. however on non sun services the tunnels were fine.
I had disabled motion blur (via a usb keyboard) for him earlier, but some how it turned it's self back on when he played the game again later on in the day.

Regardless of those things me and my dad had fun playing.

Other thing I want to note,
    • The gray/white menu select options I find it had to tell which button is the one high lighted as the selection.
    • When selecting a train, it wasn't clear that the selection had moved over to the box on the right where you select the train again.
    • After picking a service the selection would jump to the "start now" button rather than selecting the weather
    • Dynamic static weather - in the services me an my dad played we didn't experience any changes.
    • Scenario/Journey mode, again static weather.
    • SEHS tutorial, while it was spoken, the actual lights for line volt and the (forgot it's name) under it locations wasn't pointed out and we found ourselves looking all over the train cab untill we figured it out.
    • Starting up trains in the training center via free roam seems impossible, perhaps additional tutorials or pointers that can be turned off showing the steps to turn the train on would help.
I apologize if I've focused on quite a few negatives here, I just wanted to point out a few things I found, but are not game breaking...
Overall me and my dad have had fun with the game, and we enjoy playing the game. I'm probably repeating myself over and over, but thank you, dovetail, for making an amazing train simulator.

    • I should probably point out we only used the SEHS trains in our session earlier. I might drop more notes here later when I've ran the other routes

The reason for the increased fan noise when on the map or menu screens, is that the framerate is unlocked there, resulting in the fans working overtime to keep the GPU cool.

Also happens on Horizon: Zero Dawn's map screen as well for example, amongst others.

Yeah, in the past when I used to use the pro, whenever I played Final Fantasy XIV and entered a area where you had your own in-game house the fan would go crazy as well. The lack of fan noise on the PS5 is why I upgraded tbh.
