Well that's as close to confirmation as we are going to get right now, but good to see those of us who picked up on it last night aren't actually delusional or tin foil hat wearers :)

I've seen him on the live streams, one good kick of the chair from where he has his desk and he's through the door and away. This is a man with an exit plan on hand ready.

I bet Sam was thinking "wouldn't have got that if I was on guard tonight"

There are threads where people have explained how MP would completely revitalise TSW and make it a social experience - instead of it being just a singleplayer game with disposable releases and little replayability. It would in addition make it stand out among all other train simulators. You can check threads like these as examples of what kinds of gameplay it could enable: https://is.gd/v07IlV , https://is.gd/S7xhzP .

Run 8 has multiplayer and apart from someone acting as despatcher, less common now the game has Otto, I found it added nothing to the experience and went back to running single player.

That is exactly why TSW should have different types of multiplayer, with a lot of different ideas floated in the threads linked above.

Hope no one minds but, Ive taken the liberty of renaming the thread seeing as the discussion has turned more to speculation over what it involves and in no way TSW3 has been officially or otherwise admitted to being a thing.

Something tells me that TSW3 will be a temporary EGS exclusive and it will be the biggest failure in DTG marketing.

Yes, no matter what development course they take, there will be bugs that will need to be fixed. That is an argument in favour of having a bigger team and better bugfixing, not for stagnation.

Personally I think the last 3 months have been quite good for the game, and I'm actually pretty excited to find out about TSW3 when the time comes.

I don't mind the silence, I find I get more amped up for things when they hold off on announcing DLC. And then its out 3-4 weeks after we find out about it.

I honestly think you all are looking too much into it in devs they talk about stuff all the time that never gets into the public It's Perfectly Normal for them to discuss something like that as a developer and a community team

They could just have decided to ditch TSW franchise altogether.[/QUOTE]
I don’t think that’s such a bad thing, I think we need a new proper simulator. Not this Simcade.

There's plenty of other train Sims on the market including TSC if you find TSW too arcadey for your tastes.

The fact that JD looked worried on stream after the chat mentioned TSW3 was leaked and that no one has denied it yet like what has happened in the past (like with the important stream a year ago that people thought was rush hour but was quickly denied by DTG and ended up being a Q&A stream and a reveal of a second PC platform) does seem to point to this potentially being true. I hope not. DTG have only just fixed GWE and we still have the peninsula corridor update. As well the 2-3+ month silence about the German/US route on the roadmap and lack of UK content also seems a bit sus...

If it wasn't happening someone from DTG probably would've said we're not working on TSW3 by now. Though there is always the chance that they just decided not to confirm its not coming.

    1) As has been explained to you, people can be on TSC for hours creating routes/services
    2) Id hazard a guess that the average run on TSC is longer than TSW
    3) You are aware that TSW is also available on PC via Epic and to a lesser extent Game Pass, so not every TSW PC player is on Steam aren't you?

If DTG Protagonist says TSW has more players then TSC then I very much would take his word for it, seeing as its part of his job to know!

I’m excited for moving on from TSW2,for me it’s starting to feel old.
Plus I’m hoping it won’t get held back from gen 8 consoles.

They have, read up where you will see a very tongue in cheek reply from JD asking us all to act shocked & surprised when it's officially announced.

So get your poker face prepped and ready to go

And this, folks, is why you use Game Capture instead of Display Capture. Not really a big deal all things considered, but still a learning experience.

Are you sure you’re not just misinterpreting whatever data you have seen? DTG Protagonist has the actual figures in front of him, that’s been a big part of his job over the years. He actually knows.

I'm just wondering if all the Routes and Locos will become "Preserve collection" and appear in TSW3? What do you think guys?

A lot of people (including me) spent much money for their TSW2 collection and right now I can't imagine to lose it all. The other thing are achievements and collectibles. I spent dozens of hours to find all the collectibles on all routes. I did it on TSW2020, I did it once again on TSW2. If I have to do it for once again in TSW3 I'm out of looking for any of the findings and grinding for achievements...

Steam shows figures for the game are from 2013 since that is when it first came out, so those numbers are skewed. TSW2 only since 2020.

For the last 2 years that TSW2 has been out it has probably been outplayed and outsold TSC by a fair bit.

I tend to take Sam's word as he would have the proper figures. It is his job now to know this info. Plus he is the most straightforward of all in DTG.

I think that's a given seeing how Adam's team has just smashed out pretty much every route released to bring them up to current standards, that would surely make them easier to port over to UE5 or whatever version of UE they're going to be using.

Fingers crossed that it will be the end of last gen console support for releases. I'm sure there's plenty of people still playing on a PS4 or Xbox One, but it's almost 2 years since the current gen has been released (even if you still can't get a hold of a PS5 for love nor money), it's time to fully support those and work on busier routes that don't have to be held back by 10 year old technology

Must say I wasn't that convinced giving the large 8th gen player base but with what JD had posted it looks like it is going to happen. Perhaps this 'lull' in DTG's development is training staff in UE5? lol.

    I can see the benefits of it even though a lot of players will lose out but I find the question of 'How will they do it?' just as interesting. For instance;

Will they keep TSW2 in development or will they ditch it?
Will they release an editor for TSW2 to the public as a sweetner?
Will TSW3 have brand new routes or will they port them over giving players who already have the routes a discount/free?

Surely if they port things over they will inherit the same bugs. To me the lighting alone will be great to see if done right.

Given Sam's attack on the 'imperial system' I take his opinion on figures with a large pinch of salt. Someone mentioned having Boris as community manager to replace JD. Obviously we would be further from getting any decent info than what we get now but you can't deny it would be more entertaining. :) JD for PM? Have you seen what football team he supports? I don't think it would be allowed.

If TSW3 does prove to be a reality will Multiplayer and VR feature? I think there are benefits to adopting UE5 but imho it has to be done from scratch to avoid existing bugs being carried over.

I'm not convinced and there's zero evidence that TSW3 will be UE5 or that gen 8 won't be supported on TSW3 .

TSW3 is coming, what that looks like will be interesting to find out. Hopefully after this leak DTG will bring forward the official announcement and give us more details, even if it's just to save JD the embarrassment of further leaks.

Yep, that’s just us taking one piece of information and running with all manner of potential possibilities. Once the official news is out we can go over it all again with a little more decorum. Until then it’s happy days for the forum speculators and fans of minimal facts and wild theories. It sure beats talking about Pringles.

    This will never be TSW3.

If only because there will never be a full MP at DTG
(Never a ticket system, never a driver change (which would be cool for challenges, change per stop),
never a signal box simulation, no EBULA - journey information/route information, etc.

And without all that, you don't need a newer version either. In the end, sound, graphics, etc. are no longer decisive for a newer version. You've already seen that on TS.

This is an awful lot of imaginative wittering based on the fact that JD typed the three characters "t" "w" and "3" consecutively- especially given that 3 is adjacent to and within easy fingerslip range of 2.
