First legacy route to test on TSW4 - wipers still do not work since the TSW3 CC update for the HST.

I couldn't care less for Livery Designer, but I want my train to work! Also put Achievements or that irrelevant bald headed guy in the Training Center down on the priority list, they don't impact train driving at all.

    DTG Alex

DTG PLEASE FIX, YOU BROKE IT! IT'S BEEN REPORTED MONTHS AGO!

Review's out. Still charging €29.99 for this is just cheeky.

Can't you just be open and admit that it is not in DTG's competence because all that development is probably outsourced? I only hear about DTG devs doing simugraph, core game and timetables. Who is doing all the rest?

Anyway, I have sent a letter to Focus Entertainment.

Wow .. and switching to external camera clears the windshield - then it starts all over again inside the cab. Wow. How long now?

The switching to external cameras clearing the screen could also be seen as a bug and has always hapoened. It has certainly annoyed me in the past. Now of course it can be helpful for just a few seconds.

What would be much more helpful is if DTG just fixed blatant errors like this in a timely manner. It certainly should not carry over to the next version of the game as it should have been fixed well before TSW4 came out.

I’m not sure how much DTG outsource to external companies. I’m fairly sure UI implementation and console control schemes (and behaviour) are outsourced as they tend to only change (ie design changes, fixes and of course new bugs introduced) at the yearly release time, but I don’t know about individual loco Livery Designer functionality. It could have been done by Skyhook as they produced the new HST which required LD compatibility and that then been copied to the GWE one as part of the process. That would certainly explain it as their work is well documented here as being very hit and miss and often very shoddy. Converting an existing model is likely a harder task than creating one from scratch using the current method for LD functionality and the team DTG had doing that no longer exists.

Here’s hoping DTG pull their finger out and fix this as it is a fairly serious issue and has gone on far too long now.

This is also my suspicion - the rolling stock modelling is not made by DTG but by externals, who can't be held accountable after release.

This explains the silence on everything stock related, it seems someone at DTG's offices goes "Hmm, let's have a look at how that works. Nah, I won't touch that..." Apparently Matt knows route building and timetable stuff, but little about RVV and RVM files (he admitted that himself once). I've seen staff credited for timetables, physics, but never for actual modelling of locos. (Same on TSC btw, only crediting their best 2nd party contractor Ricardo "Reppo" Riveira in their sparse DLC manuals.)

The issue with the GP38-2 pressure display could be fixed within a few minutes, but there's no one at DTG with the proper knowledge. Same for the HST wipers, Talent 2 missing raindrops on VRBG, BML 377 open doors. Etc.

It's not a matter of time, they simply do not know how to do it (one of the finest examples again was TSC's Tehachapi ES44 brakes, which got broken again in a patch, and only fixed after pinging the CM's a hundred times). And they cannot admit this, so they keep silent.

If this was my game, I'd feel ashamed to leave it in the state it is now.

That sounds extreme when read out loud.

How successful will it be I wonder.

Since the last patch, we can at least admire the still non-functioning windshield wipers from a completely new,
10cm higher perspective. I would laugh if it wasn't so sad.. :|

Workaround if you have TSW 3, reinstall it only activating GWE DLC (there's no layering anyway).
    After installing GWE:

    Press [Win]+[R], enter steam://open/console

In the new Steam console tab, enter:
    download_depot 1944790 1998850 4951368903789729936

Steam will now download the TS2Prototype-WindowsNoEditor-TSW2PaddingtonReading.pak in the version before the patch that broke the HST. Wait until you get the message that the download has finished.

You will find that pak in Steam\steamapps\content\app_1944790\depot_1998850\
Move it into your TSW3 (! - it won't work with TSW4 unfortunately) DLC folder and overwrite the existing pak.

So, if you feel like playing the working GWE Original timetable, just fire up TSW3 (booting much faster than TSW4). :)

The appaling thing about that is they have the technology to let the player customize the position, Rivet even implemented a seat height and travel adjustment on their brilliant 204. But for DTG's limited capabilities it's too complicated and too much work, a "faff" in Matt's words. A verbal middle finger to their customers.

position is very customisable, can confirm in the class 31 as you can change the seat height. And even the second man’s seat height.

We probably should have had this and FOV settings for quite a while now for all trains, hey ho who knows what September 2024 will bring if you know what I mean.

I went to check, tried to fix the wiper, but I had another problem, hey DTG... the problem is in the 3D model, check what you all did wrong and fix it in TSW 4 or will the report be used to adjust in TSW 5?

It's using a totally new mesh for Livery Designer compatibility. They forgot to check the placements of the window materials.

I just did a run with the good old HST from GWE and when it started raining guess what? the wipers still did not work after all those months when the issue was first reported :D . Will this ever get fixed or is not as an important issue compared to a start screen loading bar. I guess not..

Given how much time it takes, I think they don't exactly know how to do it.

It’s a memory thing, going too far away removes the rain to save memory of what you don’t see.

as it removes it, it doesn’t replace it for when the proximity returns, therefore the window is dry until it isn’t again.
