TSW3 is now mothballed on my PC waiting uninstall.

However and aplogies if buried in one of the FAQ's but do we have the actual procedure for bringing your progress over from 3 to 4 listed anywhere? Will TSW4 prompt on first being run or do we need to manually copy and paste folders in Windows Explorer.

Also worth noting, at 1801 it will probably be necessary to stop what you're playing and fully close and restart Steam or even reboot the PC to trigger the TSW4 download, if past experience is anything to go by.

I think you need to have both TSW3 and 4 installed and after you run TSW4 and complete the transfer, you can delete TSW3.
With my limited SSD space, there will be some shuffling around next week because of this.

And I'd add to that Steam note - usually it pops around :03, I'd wait for a few minutes after 18:00 before restarting

well, it's not really transfer, just reinstalling all DLCs which are changed off a bit for compatibility once again.
but you said progress, for progress they said somewhere to keep both TSW installed, when the profile has been ported over you can uninstall TSW3 which I don't recommend because I'd still make sure that on release all DLCs and eventually mods get ported over safely aswell

Thanks Chris, hopefully highlighting this as I did will help others avoid potential confusion.

The thought of losing all that Journey progress etc. would be worse than having to restart Snowrunner from scratch!

So, basically, boot up TSW4 first to import your profile, before you uninstall TSW2/3, if I understand correctly.

Yes, but it's not your only chance. If you miss it for any reason, you can go back in to [My Profile > Switch Profile > Import Profile].

You can't import a profile if you already have one with the same name. So if you create a new profile, make sure you use a unique name.

I'm sure it goes like this:

TSW4 will check for your Documents\MyGames\TrainSimWorld3 folder, if it exists it will offer the found profile for import.

If you're low on space, you could already deinstall all DLC, and only keep the base TSW3 installed to be safe.

But, I'll wait. History has taught us that some DLC might not work the same way as before, so after just installing a second M2 SSD (1TB for TSC only, which occupies 700 GB right now), I have enough space on my main drive atm.

Okay just to confirm I had to shut down and restart Steam (twice), first time it downloaded an update for TSW3.

Note I had to actually go into my Games Library, highlight TSW4 and hit the Install button. It does not download automatically, presumably as it needs to know which of your Drives/Folders you want to put it in.

Estimating an One Hour and Ten Minutes at my D/L speed, so don't think I'll be playing until later on. D/L is around 36Gb.

Game installation never happens automatically on Steam, only DLC for installed games.

One thing I would suggest next time for this exercise, for TSW5 be it in one or two years time.

Please agree with Steam for a preload then unlock as essentially Day One of early access is wasted while waiting for the 36+ Gb of files to download then no doubt verify.
