I own TSW3 (4 Deluxe Ed. is already preordered) with a total of 37 DLCs on XBOX, and i don’t have an up to date gaming pc anyway at the moment. But i‘d like to play TSW with a keyboard and mouse, due to the limited buttons on a controller. I hate that on most of the german trains, if you acknowledge Sifa with the „B“ button, you also acknowledge „PZB Wachsam“ and get the „Zugbeeinflussung“ alert. You’re also not able to hold down Wachsam when passing a signal, because holding „B“ is contacting the Dispatcher… It’s also way slower to use the different braking systems, because you always have to cycle between the different typeswith „X“ Setting the train up can also be quite the pain with the controller stick. (AFB on the ICE 3, PIS systems on various trains) With XBOX fully supporting the hardware and the game itself supporting keyboard/mouse on PC shouldn’t that be easy to support it on the console? DTG Alex are there any plans to support this? Or is there a bigger problem i‘m not aware of preventing this?
I use a small, wireless keyboard on Xbox when playing TSW. Usually on the table in front of me or on my lap. In most situations my right hand will be holding the controller and my left hand will be resting on the keyboard.
You could always use a mouse and keyboard with TSW for quite a few years now. Keyboard binds are the same as you'll find in the instructions on PC. The mouse is a bit.. meh.. you can right click to get the cursor up to click on things in the cab (not the map), but panning the view around seems to make the game crawl at 10FPS or less. So I use it just for clicking on things.
I´ve purchased a wireless multimedia keyboard to deal with the safety systems, especially the german PZB (quite the fun I can tell you). As useful advice: You might want to get your hands on a keyboard that has DIRECT key input for PgUp, PgDn, End, Del and Ins. Many compact keyboards have these keys on (blue) FN + XKeys which can be a pain in the butt when you have to react fast. It´s only 4 seconds to acknowledge 1000Hz .................. if not then pooooofffff ... Bad Good
Just tried it for the first time. I cant use the Train Brakes… (Electric and direct works) i can release them with “Ö” on the german Keyboard, but i cant put them on. And i can‘t interact with an switch in the cab. I can click on it, but i cant drag it to select anything . Do you know how to solve this?
I'm not familiar with the German keyboard layout, but with a generic US keyboard it works fine. As for the mouse I don't think you can drag items. Just single clicks. I think this is because these two peripherals weren't specifically implemented by DTG. They just were on one day and they were as surprised as we were. So basically you get an "ok" setup, but nothing perfect. I wouldn't expect DTG to add official support for mouse and keyboard in this game either so may as well use what you can as is. I adopt a hybrid method using the keyboard, mouse and the gamepad.
Same. I use a hybrid mouse, keyboard, and controller setup. It's not bad, except it is very annoying that I can't click and move levers with the mouse. I can click and hold using the mouse with my right hand, but then I have to use my left hand to move the left thumbstick on the controller in the appropriate direction. Would be much easier if I could simply use the mouse to click and drag the lever. Also, when in free cam mode, I would love it if I could fly the camera around very fast to quickly get ahead of my high speed train so I can quickly and easily get in position for a drive by shot. I see them do it frequently on PC during the railfan tv previews, and I long to be able to do that on my Xbox Series X. Please, Dovetail.
I use a Razer Turret wireless keyboard for a limited number of things. Mainly to change the camera view, but also wipers, headlights, cab lights etc. It works very well for this.
good luck there will be no mouse support i asked that one already DTG said no link to my post https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/using-mouse-on-xbox.64361/#post-595889
I don’t think it’s not a possibility DTG adding mouse support in the future, it’s just they have other priorities right now (new content). Matt has also stated it’s not something the team has planned, but with more demand for the feature from the community, with us kicking and screaming, DTG will have to eventually take notice.
