DTG Benjamin, just wanted to thank you for an amazing job on the music. I booted the game up for the first time and the first comment my 8 year old came out with was "I really like the music". This was closely followed by my 6 year old proclaiming "It really made me feel like I was driving a train!". Top job, we're all big fans of it. I'm just upset I don't get the soundtrack as I'm on PS5 and not PC.
Yes they have done a top job on the music, a very big fan of it when navigating round the menu or making a livery. Back in TSW3 I would have put some 70s,80s & 90s music on but I haven't done that in TSW4 so far.
The music is definitely growing on me. When submitting feedback on here, I tend to keep the game on the menu screens so the music is playing.
Getting the trophy for using 500 layers was not so boring for me with the music. I just did a quick copy and paste jobbie to get the trophy as I’m nowhere near artistic enough to create a decent livery.
Certainly, when I was making my first Hull Trains 802 livery it caused me some trouble and I am now doing the version as they are now with the colour along the side and I am very thankful for the calming music!
This link here will take you to the first (late 2019 condition) one and I'll be sure to show you when I get the 'as they are now' version done. The reason I did this one first is because I am going to be using it for a couple of scenarios and I like liveries like this which are temporary things. Here is a screenshot I just took though: Edit: Sorry I though this was the screenshot thread, I will put in there as well and not distract from the great music anymore. Don't age it really isn't great!
Where is the soundtrack? Isn't the music in loading screen same as TSW2020 or original TSW in 2017-2018? There is supposed to be the ensemble violin music that we saw on youtube and facebook in the last month? I think that song needs to be put on the loading screen, can't get enough. The visuals don't match the music. Although the music is good, similar to the Formula One theme.
SD40Australia You haven't spent enough time in the menu then. It takes a minute to get to that part. Also play some scenarios and do some of the route introductions. You will hear it. And trust me, you can't miss it.
Yes I was very surprised the music is so good. I did not like the menu music in TSW3, it really annoyed me from day one but the music in TSW4 is top notch.
Yea the new music is nice, I think it fits well with what the game is. Good work on that. it was quite loud on 100% volume settings but 25% makes it nice and very much heard for the menu’s.
The music is not good nor beautiful but majestic ! It gives me some good vibes with a nice background music, while looking for a route to do. I prefer this by a thousand times, it’s nicer to do a livery now with a nice music, rather than listening to thunderstorms and lightnings on TSW3.
I would like to suggest that it would be nice if you could choose between the different TSW themes in the menu. I like them all but everyone likes a different one better. And so these compositions would also be more appreciated! Many thanls to him! And yes, I think they fit very well into a train simulator.
Complete +1 on this. I never thought music could make a game more enjoyable and immersive, particularly a train simulator. . . . until I heard Ben’s compositions. Fantastic!
It's the first thing i turn off in the audio options, diabolical. If i want music in a game, i will play something good from the 60's or early 70's.
The music in TSW4! I love it! I just wish I could listen to the menu version (the one with the extra violin part) without needing to load the game, so that I can do other tasks as well. I didn't know it played during livery editor! I may start making liveries now!
As a musician myself I do think this rather good, its nice to use actually REAL instruments instead of using virtual strings etc, the closest you can get is with SWARM and a breath controller, but nothing takes away the real playing. But nicely done Ben, nice composition, and nicely recorded and executed.
… and it’s cool that is the Rochester Orchestra playing. You should sneak them onto the platform at Rochester on SEHS every now and then!
Oh! It really was a live performance! I remember seeing a video of the software used to make the music on one of the articles.
Yes that would most prob be NI Kontakt with the keyboard, and also they have to record thru live mics and into a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation.....which would be either Logic, Studio One, Pro Tools or Cubase....amongst others)........Benjamin what audio/mixer interface was used, and what DAW?. There would also be some in house processing ie audio FX reverb, eq, compression, limiting, gating.......and then of course it has to be mastered.
I downloaded the TSW4 soundtrack from Steam and played it without the game just to listen; it is excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed it as music. Ben, will this eventuality become available on iTunes along with you other stuff? (For those who might be interested, just put Benjamin Symons in the search bar for iTunes or Amazon.)
I've just listened to the soundtrack on Spotify and I am astounded by how fascinating the music sounds. Well done....it sounds amazing. I was wondering if I could have permission to use a couple of them in my Railway series that I'm planning out? One of them sounds fantastic for a teaser trailer. I'll definitely give credit to the artist. Whilst my Railway series is planned to take place with the help of (TSW4 now that I've given it some thought, but I will give an update sometime once I've got my rig set up), it doesn't matter what train simulator we play. At the end of the day, it's all about us having fun with driving/riding trains, making railways, exploring different routes and just enjoying ourselves. I see no rivalry, each sim has its advantages and disadvantages. Thanks for taking the time to read, Daz
