I am beyond puzzled that we are about to embark on version 4 of Train Sim World and yet there is still no mention of Direct Input and using the new bindings for external hardware USB direct input controllers. I have a honeycomb Bravo I use for flight simulator with analog sliders that would be great to have more control of throttle and brakes like in a real loco. Why this is still not implemented and in fact ignored, is mind boggling. This should have been incorporated in TSW1. But these new key bindings mentioned seem to be about keyboard specific, or game controller pad bindings. Why can we not use our external hardware??
I don't think I've heard anything about any controller having configurable buttons in-game. It only took 4 games to get keyboard customization so hopefully by TSW8 you will be able to do that.
I use a program called JoyToKey to map a few controls. Right now everything I need once I’m underway is on a tactile control. I have two big joystick, two smaller Atari looking joysticks, and an AWS button from TS Controllers. I also use the gas pedal from my Moza wheel setup as another acknowledgment control. Granted it’s not a pure throttle input with an axis control, but it’s still way more immersive this way. I hope axis controls make the game at some point, but for now this is pretty good.
