PS4 Tsw4 Not Starting After Update

Yesteray the new update downleaded on my PS4, and the game gets itself in an infinite loading loop. The animation at the bottom of the screen is spinning so it's definitely not frozen. I tried rebooting the console and reopening the game. I have already uninstalled RHTT, Caltrain MP15 switcher and the ROG Class 37 because they broke the game after the penultimate update. Perhaps something else broke during this update, but I can't figure out what. I tried searching on the forums but nobody seems to have the same issue.

 

Have you tried to close the game and re open again? This problem happens to me at once for now, but i've closed game and re opened it and works

 

I have, but it still takes ages.

It still hasn’t let me in, I’m just saying ages because the circle is still spinning. I waited 15 minutes and it still not let me in, I started the game then closed it and opened it again and it just does it again. I don’t know how long it will take, I give myself 15 minutes and I’m just sick of waiting over and over again.

 

Thanks Jan, I use a PS5 with the PlayStation 4 edition alongside the PS5 edition. The PS5 is perfectly fine when it’s loading.

Well you aimed for 25 minutes, I tried to let it run for 10 hours straight and it didn't launch, despite having the circle still turning indicating that the game was not frozen. Tried again closing the game, rebooting the console in safe mode but nothing happens.

 

I have exactly the same problem. Since update 1.11 on the PS4, the game has been stuck at the loading screen. I've tried so many things, but it doesn't help at all. I deleted the entire save game, it doesn't help. I've already reinstalled TSW4 three times in different ways, it doesn't help.

 

Any updates from the devs? Seems like this issue has gone unnoticed and it's not like we can play with limited features, we can't open the whole game.

 

Well Jan Replied just saying that he’s sorry to hear what we’re going through. He didn’t say that he’ll check the ps4 settings, flag it to the development team or what might have happened after the update. Hopefully when they check the issue we’ll get a new staff reply.

 

Shouldn't have to. That should be obvious.

 

Well if he just leaves it we’ll never know what might happen.

 

Will just have to wait and see I suppose.

 

Hope we don't wait too long, seems this issue is getting worse, i had sometimes to restart game multiple times before it works

I Checked the ECML crashes on PS5 and some people show a review of what the PS4 edition of TSW4 is like. So does this mean that some can get into it? If so I still can’t!

 

Hello Alex, glad to hear this issue wan not forgotten. So now i'm responding at questions.
1) i actually run the game completely on PS4: pro version. (not sure if pro or slim was rilevant or not)
2) Currently have all USA dlc and additional USA trains avaiable in the locomotive section, including heritage packs for Both Sherman Hill and Horseshoe curve, also the Holiday Runaway Express and the Canadian Oakville route. For UK routes having: ECML, Northern Transpennine, Great Western Express including the Diesel Legends, Tees valley Line, East coastway whit class 313 timetable, West Cornwall Local, Southeastern Highspeed, BR heavy freight pack, Midland Mainline, Brighton Mainline, Bakerloo line with class 38 heritage, Cathcart Circle Line, West Somerset Railway with both class 33 and 52 "Maroon", Spirit of Steam, Isle of Wight both versions, Birmigham Cross city, Glossop Line. Also having the LGV mediterranee, Arosalinie whit livery collection pack and Luzern Sursee. For Germany routes having: S bahn Voralberg, Naverkeh Dresden Riesa, Schellfahrstrecke Kassel Würzburg and Koln Aachen, Hauptstreche Rhein Ruhr whit Br 101 and Munchen Ausburg, Main Spessart Bahn with Br 204.
3) I have imported all dlcs from TSW3 to 4, the only dlc i have actually buyed on 4 is the Glossop Line.
4) yes the issue are upcoming in offline mode and i have to restart game like 2 or 3 times

Posting this as a separate answer so that it does not get confused: I'm currently re-installing the game with the add-ons stated above (same as before), I still have more than 130 GB of free space with the whole game installed. Thought this might be useful.

Well we’ve had the November update, and I don’t see any updates in development about this. It did say somethings on the 17th October update when it occurred of what was getting fixed.

 

I have the same problem on my PS4 Pro. I picked up all of TSW3's DLCs. I've tried a lot and can report that it all applies to Loco DLCs. The route DLCs all work without any problems. But if you gradually add all the Loco DLCs, TSW4 can no longer be started. The game is stuck at the loading screen and the PS4 Pro's fan speeds up. I own almost all DLCs from TSW2 and TSW3 and imported them into TSW4. I can narrow down the DLCs based on my many attempts. It is almost certainly the following Loco DLCs that trigger the error:

BR Class 31
BR Class 33
BR Class 40 (BR Heavy Freight)
BR Class 52
Diesel Legends of the Great Western
MP15DC Switcher

The DLC MP15DC Switcher caused problems in TSW4 on my system right from the start. Since the game was updated to version 1.10, there have been even more DLCs.

I have not yet purchased the following DLC and therefore they do not apply to this problem:

Thameslink BR Class 700/0
Norfolk Southern Heritage Collection
Midland Main Line: Leicester - Derby & Nottingham
Niddertalbahn: Bad Vilbel - Stockheim route

All route DLCs work! There must be a problem with the Loco DLCs.

I have already informed Chris from DTG support about this several times.

Many Loco DLCs cannot be installed via the in-game store. An error message is displayed stating that a certain route is required for this vehicle. But these routes are all already installed! You can easily install all DLCs via the PS4 menu.

 

A couple of threads about TSW4 on ps4 were created after this one was made, and it seems like people are getting in. If this issue is known, how are people getting into TSW on the ps4 if the not starting issue hasn’t been fixed yet?

Well perhaps not everyone had this issue? I myself was having trouble with my game not starting after hours of loading, then one day it all solved itself (without installing updates or doing anything special, it just started), but I'm still asking DTG to look into it because knowing the game I'm sure the issue will come back one day. Plus other users seem to still have the problem

 

Seems the 1.16 patch update had fix this for me

Yesterday I just have the chance to use the simulator one time, and I did not notice a difference on loading time.
It still takes time.
Of course I do not checked exactly how long it takes before, to see if there is a difference.
I have around 20 routes, and some extra locomotives.
Hopes today later, I can check exactly the time required to open the sim and inform you about it..

 

This issue I think now has been fixed, mine loaded for how long the TSW4 theme tune is, thanks for the fix!

 

Alex, I checked the time it takes to load TSW4, - up to just before you do the click to enter to select a route- , and the result was: 4 minutes and 34 seconds!.
I have 25 routes, and some extra locomotives.
I am on PS4

Hopes this information be useful, and DTG could reduce it!

Special note: yesterday the game was updated to 1.18 version.
I have the chance to just test 2 routes, and everything was OK.
But what is not working, is to upload the pictures taken on Photo Mode!
It shows a message that is not possible.
Hopes this be fixed soon!

I have installed version 1.18 with the same add-ons I had listed in post #26 (plus Blackpool Branches) but the loading time still hangs around 4 to 6 minutes, which is understandable.
What I am concerned about is that if I were to re-install all the other add-ons that I deleted, the game would probably freeze again on start. Are there any news on that issue? I believe this is a different problem to the lengthy-but-bearable loading time, since it only shows up to some users, but not all.
At the moment I uninstalled the dlcs that I use the least, but being able to have them in game at all times would be nice since I paid for them.

 

The problem with TSW4 freezing when starting the application has been fixed with update 1.18. I installed my missing DLCs one by one. Everything worked without any problems. To test it, I then completely deleted TSW4 and completely reinstalled the game. It works ! The game loads and all DLCs are also present in the game. Good job, DTG ! Thank you very much ! The loading time of five minutes hasn't changed, but that doesn't interest me at all !

 

Can somebody (player who has them installed) please verify that these DLCs do not interfere with the game starting as of today?
- RHTT
- MP15 Switcher
- ROG Class 37

I can't bother trying to install them and uninstall the whole game before reinstalling everything if something breaks (took 8+ hours last time)
I'm on PS4

I have checked the started time again, and I noticed now it takes 3 minutes and 38 seconds.
So almost 1 minute less!
