DTG Alex DTG JD When trying to search for any specific locomotive class numbers in the Online Sharing Hub one would think that most loco's have no available liveries. The search engine is either broken or is just hopeless. Two examples. When typing in as search criteria 'Class 37' or 'Class 20' the search engine brings up no results whatsoever, which is utter nonsense. (see screenshots below) Liveries are available for these loco's and have Class 37 or Class 20 in their actual listed title! The search engine is not upper/ lower case sensitive. I've tried searching using all capital letters, again no results when either 'CLASS 20' or 'CLASS 37' is typed in to the search box. This makes it highly irritating to quickly find what one is looking for using the so-called 'search' function. Two questions for Dovetail: 1. Why is the search function in the Online Sharing Hub so utterly useless or broken? 2. What is the point of having an Online Sharing Hub search function when the seach engine cannot recognise basic search terms? I have paid for this product and, considering its price, expect such basic functionality as a search engine to work! I'm assuming that those responsible for the search function are not rank amateurs and would be carrying out quality control of their work to check that it functions as paying customers expect before the product is released. Perhaps I am wrong in that assumption? Unfortunately, judging by this forum, the list of bugs and problems with TSW4 seems to be getting longer by the day. Please get this basic and frustrating problem resolved. Using the term 'Class 20' to search. No results! (No search filters are being used) Using only '20' as search criteria... Using the term 'Class 37' to search. No results! (No search filters are being used) Using only '37' as search criteria...
This to me has a look of the "Safe words" issue that used to prevent you from using class in the name of anything in creators club - same as you couldn't use passenger in Scenario planner either - (same word hides in both words...) and it might be deciding not to search for your term at all - I'd imagine Scunthorpe may have the same issue.
Why would I use an online website search engine when I have an in game one that should accept English language words that are in everyday use and are not profanity? Badly developed nonsense. I refer you to my post here": https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/bad-word-filter-is-too-strong-help.74769/#post-731814 Let's hope that Cockfosters gets added as a tube station at some point. Maleappendagefosters anyone?
I agree - its odd - and I can repeat your outcome in game (PC Steam) - but if the web accepts it - the game should too...
Because the in game Online Sharing Hub Search Function that should accept English language words that are in everyday use and are not profanity Is Either Broken Or Simply Hopeless due to it not accepting English language words that are in everyday use and are not profanity
Yes, search engine cross platform continuity. User friendly search engines that give quick and accurate results using words relevant to the game itself such as 'class', a concept Dovetail cannot seem to fully fathom out. It's truly pathetic.
I remember years ago, just as the Internet was taking off, big companies at the time like AOL and Yahoo censored Scunthorpe on there search engines, for the same reason you think it might be hard to find on here
DTG Alex DTG JD There is no continuity when using the in-game search engine either. The word 'class' cannot be used in search box in the Online Sharing Hub. However, when using the in-game search in the Train Depot section or Store, the word 'class' is strangely permitted. Question for Dovetail: Why can I search using the word 'class' in the Train Depot or Store sections in TSW4, yet in the Online Sharing Hub it seems that it's not allowed. Where on Earth is the continuity in that? Train Depot search: Store search:
DTG Alex DTG JD It now seems that the word 'class' on its own is now being accepted as a search term in the Online Hub search facilty. Searching with only a number works as well. However, if searching with the combination of 'Class' plus a loco type number, no go. This really is odd behaviour and not user friendly whatsoever. I have not got the time or inclination to wade though 78 pages every time I try to search for specific locomotive types. Search using the word 'Class' only (no filter): Search with number only (no filter): Search with combination 'Class 20' (no filter):
This is being looked in to and the problem may be that multiple word searches cannot be used in the current search set up. If this can be altered to allow multiple word searches then it'll make finding livereies for specific content far easier.
