Hello everyone, I've been quiet on these forums lately as life's been busy for me and I recently started a job so I haven't had as much free time as I would like to have. But I've been interested in purchasing TSW4 and what got me excited was the PC Editor. Understandably I understand I'll need an Epic Games account to use the Editor and apparently it works with both the Epic and Steam versions of TSW4? (Correct me if I'm wrong.) Anyways...my question is: Does anyone know if it's possible to use the TSW4 PC Editor on the Steam Deck? The Legion go is a little too expensive for me, the Ally would be possible (Yes, yes I've kept tabs on the SD Card issues which is why I've asked about the Steam Deck.) Appreciate your responses and I'll do my best to get back to you as soon as I can...I'm also five hours behind the UK time. Thanks, Daz
Hello, to clarify, the PC Editor works with both Steam and Epic TSW4 files, meaning you can own either version to use the Editor, but fundamentally it is only installed through the Epic Games Store, and as it uses the Unreal Engine it is only supported on PC currently. I hope this helps
You can install and launch the Editor on Linux. Whether or not you will have satisfactory performance on the Deck is another matter.
Do you intend to dock it? You will definitely need regular PC peripherals to make it usable. As for hardware requirements, I think you will need 32 gigs of RAM to do anything other than very basic things.
Sorry for the extreme delay in getting back to you, yes as a matter of fact I do intend to dock it with regular PC peripherals. I can confirm the 32 gigs of RAM would be a problem for me as the Steam Deck (and the other handhelds I mentioned though correct me if I'm wrong) only go up to 16 gigs of RAM...so that would be a problem for me intending to use TSW4's PC Editor as I wanted to make my own route / locos. Worst case scenario, I can move to TSC and do it there even though the editor's different but, if that's what's available for the Steam Deck than I'll take it, though the fun part will be working out how to make a steam loco as I can't find any info for that on the provided TSC Editor documentation anywhere. I would also like to make an old terminus station as well...(1950s style.) Hope that's helpful.
Is there a reason you actually need a Steam Deck instead of a regular computer? I mean you will undoubtedly be over-paying for your specs that way as well as denying yourself any options for future upgrades.
Well, I will say the Lenovo Legion Go has caught my eye lately, but the problem I've had with looking for a regular computer is the specs side of it (plus I wanted it to be portable as I do like to travel.)
