Hello and today I am suggesting the Derby - Crewe Line for TSW4 This line is not famous nor long but I thought of this line when I was thinking of UK routes that could be similar to the Niddertalbahn route that was orginally released for TSW3. The Route: The Derby to Crewe line was built by the North Staffordshire Railway (later absorbed into the LMS in 1923) and it runs from Crewe south east to Derby via Stoke-on-Trent, Longton & Uttoxeter. The line measures in at 42 miles or 67.6km and the maximum speed limit is 70. Today the line is operated by East Midlands Railway (EMR) Era & Rolling Stock: I would like to see this route set in present day and feature the BR Class 170 in EMR Purple. Freight can sometimes happen with this mainly being JNAs hauled by a Colas Rail Class 56. Today, this line sees trains going between Crewe & Newark Castle with a cab-changeover at Derby. The Stations on this line include: Crewe (Changed for services on the North Wales Coast Mainline & the WCML) Alsager Kidsgrove Longport (least used station in Staffordshire) Stoke-on-Trent Longton Blythe Bridge (alight here for the Foxfield Steam Railway) Uttoxeter (alight here for the Uttoxeter Racecourse) Tutbury & Hatton Peartree (least used station in Derbyshire) Derby (Change for services on the MML or carry on this train to Newark Castle) Layers: For layers, I would like to see the Class 66 + RHTT to operate on the line during autumn. The line doesn't see much railtour action but does see 1 Statesman Rail charter train every year between late January & early February with these hauled by two LSL-owned Class 47s but as the correct type of 47 nor rolling stock exists in TSW, I don't mind if this isn't layered in.
Also for layers, the Northern class 323 from Glossop Line can appear on short playable services between Stoke-on-Trent and Kidsgrove. They can also appear on AI only services at Crewe on local services to Manchester.
