Just a simple question: where does TSW4 store screenshots, both regular and hi-res?

If you are using f12 for screenshots, this is the directory for me
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\150196170\760\remote\2362300\screenshots

If it's photo mode then it's this path:
    C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\My Games\TrainSimWorld4\Saved\PersistentDownloadDir\PhotoMode

Thanks, but neither of these suggestions works for me. The folder identified by rennekton#1349 doesn't exist on my computer and I'm not using Photo Mode. I tried using Steam to set up a TSW4 screenshots folder, but the screenshots I tried taking in TSW4 don't show up there.
Screenshots are not mentioned in the TSW4 user's manual.

Some one from DTG must have the answer for my question?!?

Well, what I'm doing is the same thing I did to take a screenshot in TSW, TSw2, and TSW3: press F12 for a standard screenshot or CTRL + F12 for an enhanced screenshot. As far as I know, I'm not using DTG's in-game screenshot feature (nor do I know how).

    Ctrl+F10

maybe you have some different configurations on Steam than we have. But try going to your steam client, click "view" at the top left, click "screenshots" and filter to TSW4. you can then also open the file folder by clicking "show on disc" which is a folder icon

F12 is a Steam Screenshot so should be saved near your steamapps folder. I never use them, so don't know anything about them.

Ctrl+F12 is the in-game screenshot feature saved locally (Not a Dovetail Live screenshot). Until Photo mode, I used this exclusively.
They are in Documents>My Games>TrainSimWorld4>Saved>Screenshots>WindowsNoEditor (as they have always been in previous iterations)

You can change between high quality and super high quality Ctrl+F12 screenshots in settings.

Well, thanks again for the suggestions, fellow forum members, but I still don't have a comprehensive understanding of how to take screen shots in TSW4 or where to find them on my computer. This information is completely absent from the otherwise much appreciated TSW4 users' manual!
Jamie? Matt? please send out a thorough explanation of how to take and view screenshots in TSW4!

    Hello there,

the other users have provided pretty much all you need to know about taking screenshots, but I'll try to summarize it. If I understood correctly you are using Steam's screenshot feature, so I'll go into detail about that first.

    - Pressing F12
This will use Steams built in screenshot function, this is the same for every game run via Steam. Pressing F12 results in an audible "shutter" sound of a camera. The screenshots will then be saved locally on your machine. The specific path will depend on how your PC is set up and what drive Steam is installed on for you, but for TSW 4 it usually is found under "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\1536257763\760\remote\2362300\screenshots".

Please note again that the actual location of your screenshot folder might be different.

Alternatively, you are able to navigate to your screenshots by opening Steam, clicking on "View" on the top left corner, then clicking on "Screenshots" in the drop down menu. This will open a new window, showing all screenshots you have taken using Steam. You can navigate through this window to find the screenshot you are looking for. You can then open the screenshot by clicking on the selection menu on the left, then on the larger preview on the right hand side. This opens the screenshot in a new window. Right clicking on that window will open a context menu, giving you the option to navigate to the location of that specific screenshot.

    - Pressing CTRL+F12
This uses the ingame screenshot function and is independent from Steam's built in F12 screenshot. Screenshots taken using the CTRL+F12 key combination will be saved under "C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\My Games\TrainSimWorld4\Saved\Screenshots\WindowsNoEditor"

Please note here that "USERNAME" will have to be replaced with your own username/name of your machine

    -
    Using Photo Mode
Photo Mode is a new feature in Train Sim World 4, which can be accessed in various ways. You can press CTRL+F10, SHIFT+SPACE or open the pause menu by pressing ESCAPE and navigating to "Photo Mode" with your mouse. This will pause the game and gives you the ability to customize the screenshot to your preference. These pictures are saved locally under "C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\My Games\TrainSimWorld4\Saved\PersistentDownloadDir\PhotoMode

Again, "USERNAME" will have to be replaced with your own username/name of your machine.

You can also access them by clicking on "Live" in the game's main menu and then click on "Photo Gallery".
"Alternatively, you are able to open "https://live.dovetailgames.com/live/train-sim-world/news". Log in with your Dovetail Live account, navigate to your username on the top right corner, click on it and select "SHOTS"

    I hope this helps,
    Jan

    so C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\My Games\TrainSimWorld4\Saved\PersistentDownloadDir\PhotoMode just doesn't exist then?

Ah, I apologize, that was an honest mistake. I was under the impression those pictures are saved online only. Will amend my post to reflect that.

Thanks, Jan, for your extensive reply, especially your last suggestion regarding viewing my screenshots in game. Since I had Steam move my entire TS and TSW installations from my C drive, which was running out of space, to my E drive, none of the usual locations for TSW4 screenshots apply for me.

Even if you substitute E for C?

Here, believe it or not, is the location of my TSW4 screenshots:

    C:>ProgramFilesx86>Steam>userdata>53894200>760>remote>2362300

"Remote" strikes me as the key word, but I'll add improbable, un-guessable, and even absurd, ridiculous, and counter-intuitive.

    Did I mention user-unfriendly?

Thanks to all who offered suggestions, BTW.

I am glad you have found at least some of your screenshots.

It is interesting, however, that the location you found your F12 screenshots in is exactly where DTG Jan said they would be (with slight changes to some of the numbers of course, but that shouldn't have been that much of an issue).

As a matter of fact, you are correct -- I must have made typing errors (?) before. However, I have now set up desktop shortcuts to all three TSW4 screenshot mode storage locations. Reminds me of the last line of dialog from one of my favorite movies: "Why does everything have to take so long?"

Thanks to all responders for their patience!

I realize this is an old post, but maybe there are other users out there who are as confused as I was - because none of the links above are where in game screenshots are stored on my machine. After a lot of time wasted searching, I eventually found that below is the location - irritating, since I am not a OneDrive user and also such alternative locations should have been addressed in the documentation.

By the way - One Drive is also where the .ini files are stored and before anyone asks, no I have not done any setups for OneDrive - maddening

    C:\Users\'Username'\OneDrive\Documents\My Games\TrainSimWorld4\Saved\PersistentDownloadDir\PhotoMode

It depends if you set up a custom save location in Steam for your uncompressed screenshots. For example any screenshot I take using F12 in Steam gets saved here C:\Users\username\Pictures\Games\Uncompressed Steam Photos then I can sort out the screenshots into their own named folders, just makes things easier for me instead of having to go through each individual game folder in different directories as most the time they seem to be here, there and everywhere.

    Greetings all!

I haven't played TSW4 is a long time and recently started messing around with it on a new laptop. I've taken some screen shots using the Ctrl+F12 method, but I cannot locate the shots anywhere on this laptop. Steam is located: This PC > OS(C)> Steam

I do not have any other drives on this machine. Running Windows 11. I've checked on all the possible locations in the above threads - no luck. I've played Train Simulator Classic, along with TSW, TSW2, & TSW3 and was able to find the screens on my older computers, but not with TSW 4. If anyone has any suggestions, I would love to hear them.

    Regards,
    Scott

It may not be in your OneDrive folder - so check the other 'Documents' as well!
