I know that Dovetail have stated there will be no optimisation for the PS5 Pro.

However, I did a couple of runs today, exact same WCML service leaving from Euston.

There was no difference whatsoever between the standard PS5 and Pro, the same little stutters, the same texture and foliage pop-in issues, same freezes in the cab at the start of the service.

I don't know if I should have expected a smoother experience with the Pro's upgraded GPU or not. The issues seem to be with the engine and core itself.

I mean you didn’t need to trial it on the pro to see that, just look at the wild inconsistencies on PC builds regardless of specs.

TSW 5 performs worse than 4 across the board, even with older content.

It's perhaps because TSW is limited by the CPU on the PS5. I believe there is a game boost setting on the PS5 Pro that will overclock the CPU by 10%, maybe worth a try.

Noticed it too, major disappointment considering many other games with PS5 pro patches are running sublime. Dragons Dogma 2 is better than previous despite some issues still, but at least they are trying, not like DTG. PSSR would really help the game, in that instead of 4k mode, there would be a Performance Plus mode where lower resolution but with PSSR and better details. DTG will be too busy now making DLC instead of improving the actual game performance.
Despite loving trains, I think I am at the point of just now uninstalling and playing some of these improved PS5 Pro games. Don't want to feel buyers remorse of buying the PS5 Pro, which by playing TSW5 will cause this.

Thanks for the first TSW5 test impressions with the PS5 Pro! It was clear that no graphical miracle was to be expected. Even on the standard PS5, the fps performance is very smooth 90% of the time, but the most annoying thing is the micro stutters caused by reloading the map or trains. But that is mainly due to the TSW route architecture, which is divided into blocks, and more RAM could also be an advantage.

We still have to wait at least 3 to 4 years for a possible PS6. As a result, I'm not really convinced by the PS5 Pro yet and am saving the €800 for now. Perhaps a GTA6 or Ace Combat8 with full PS5 Pro support, as well as a bundle with a reduced price, could convince me more than playing through the previous AAA titles again at 60fps.

Are the 64 memory limit fixed on PS5?

I have found the fps to be much smoothed overall. London to Brighton was a sideshow previously and now it is noticeably better for me. I agree that DTG need to make use of the enhancements

Blurring of textures has practically not improved on PS5 Pro

This is important information. This proves that the problem is not lack of performance, but bad optimization of TSW5 beta.

There are certainly areas where there are very little improvement such as around busy stations. Probably only a few frames different between the PS5 and the pro which would make sense due to the minor CPU clock increase.

However, away from the stations the pro does have advantages. It's much more likely to get closer to 60fps. Was also gobsmacked when I was in external view at a station with 2 diesels belching out smoke, yet the framerate didn't tank which is a big improvement

I would also say that while stuttering still happens, it's not quite as jarring as it was on the PS5.

Is it worth the 700quid. Not for TSW at this time unless DTG actually patches in more dedicated support. However some games that do take more advantage such as FFVIIr and TLOU etc I have to say I am impressed

For example, in Salzburg Rosenheim, it runs more smoothly in less busy places, but the blurring of textures continues, even in Dresden - Riesa, Salzburg and the surrounding area, and Frankfurt - Fulda, it's a disaster without any changes for the better

I don't know whether to try TSW4 on PS5 Pro, I'm already tired... it's not fun, just a desperate attempt to break up TSW5 in some acceptable way... but I'm not really interested in empty maps

Indeed. Combined with the fact that it was fixed entirely at one point before something unfixed it again, I feel like the evidence points at some obscure issue with the code and not performance itself.

Very glad I didn’t waste money on the PS5 Pro if the game runs no differently, even with the extra RAM it enables for games. It’s abundantly clear that TSW 5 is not well optimised.

Been trying other games on the PS5 Pro and they look fantastic with the upgrades. Even some without Pro patches I am seeing benefits. TSW5 not so much, still getting blurry textures with all DLC active on Frankfurt and Glasgow. Uninstalled until people can state its 100% fixed. This shows its not performance but coding. Maybe stop releasing a new iteration every year? It probably has so much bad coding from previous iterations in it, a clean slate might be better? Not angry about it, just disappointed since I enjoy the trains.

Tsw5 is a stuttering mess on ps5 even the older routes are running poorly and dtg are doing nothing about it. The amount of money I've put in to this game and I don't even touch it much anymore. Come on dtg where are the updates please. Oh to busy pushing the next new route out for some more stuttering mess. So disappointed.

Although I no longer own a PS5, I feel your pain. A while back I did suggest DTG dial down the draw distance (and whatever else) to be on a parity with the Series X, which runs very smoothly in comparison. This however was met with some resistance by a few here who were not happy with this solution. As DTG no longer seem interested in applying performance QoL updates for players, I would not hold your breath waiting for improvements. A gen 10 console it seems will be the only panacea to the ever-present PS5 performance issues.
