Could this be it tsw5 real world weather. Just as flight sim. Imagine having real world weather in tsw5 as you see outside of your window. Not dynamic weather but it come slightly close to it. Only real world weather would seem legit coz you’ll notice wow it sunny out side as you peek into your window. So once you go to tsw5 you’ll see the exact weather that displaying outside your home. Real world weather would be only for the exact route your in. For example London commuter route for real world weather would be only for London commuter. For example tee valley line route for real world weather would be only for tee valley line route. Let add this you’ll get all the fog snow all type of weather patterns for tsw5 real world weather conditions for only that specific route only. Not only that winds direction. This would be good for suspension. notice the rain mist in the back. Could we see this in tsw5 real world weather conditions. As you approach in that section.
We don't really need real time weather in this game. I prefer weather data at the year route was set gets integrated into the route so we can at least have better "dynamic" weather.
In two minds about this. The current dynamic weather is pretty much a case of start sunny and deteriorate to a raging thunderstorm after five minutes, which remains for the remainder of the run. Real world weather probably more applicable to a flight sim, where you are taking off or landing in a crosswind, or battling headwinds across the Atlantic. RW weather would also require a persistent server connection and the data would have to be paid for somehow. And let’s face it, DTG couldn’t even get the Bidstack ads working properly let alone something as sophisticated as weather.
It would be cool, but unless DTG hire Microsoft so they can use their amazing Azure AI for real time weather updates, than it’s not worth it. I think DTG’s weather is fine though, just the dynamic weather could use some fine tuning.
How would that work on historical routes such as NTP, TVL, Blackpool branches etc? I mean unless they had the actual historical weather data then what we have in game already and I wouldn’t bother with “real” weather.
I don’t know what one is worse when it comes to Dynamic Weather. TSW or Red Dead Redemption 2. Both games the weather changes FAR too quickly. Always hated it. Might not be a problem for some but definitely gets to me…. And the funny thing is this is coming from someone who lives in Scotland where we get 4 seasons in one day a lot of the time haha. I get that it’s Dynamic Weather but surely it could be made to change a bit less frequently ???.
You don't need the most powerful ai for real weather. It's also in the bus which is a smaller team of developers
I've often thought this might be a good idea myself. If it was possible, it would be good to add it to the current system as an extra option. The problem with the current dynamic weather system is, if it's winter it will 90% of the time come over with this ghastly fog. Or if it's summertime you'll get a thunderstorm for half of the game. There does not seem to be much dynamic weather... just these two options. But yeah I think it's a good idea that could be implemented in timetable mode as an option. When I'm playing I'll often see what the weather outside is like and copy that for my drive...
I remember this option in Shenmue back in the day on the Dreamcast, being able to have the actual historic weather for those specific days in Yokosuka in 1986.
It would be a trivial amount of coding surely. You can easily pull in realtime weather data and then have it trigger weather events in-game.
Thanks for introducing me to a new simulator. I’m pretty new to steam, so until now I didn’t know this existed. I currently play a lot of Fernbus coach simulator, but on PS5. The FPS isn’t great though. Fernbus (PC) and The Bus added to my wish list
I would prefer they fix the dynamic weather first. The way it is implemented currently, it is a one way script from clear to fog/rain/storms majority of the time. Once that is working better maybe then think about adding live weather.
They could have a talk with some of the modders for FO4, some very good weather mods even for XB1X they are not real-time via NOAA but for a game some of the better ones I have seen. It can be done, heck if a group in their free time can create some amazing mods and yes I am talking of TSW, as well as other games then why not TSW, yes I agree it does go from sunny to rain in a blink of an eye, and that can be annoying, I love a good thunder and heavy rain storm if you will, but NOT like flipping a switch on and off.
This is achieved in TSC by ArmstrongPowerhouse, delivering 200+ different skydome backgrounds in their CloudEP (at no FPS costs). Doing so using volumetric clouds would probably result in your PC using all resources for the weather only.
