Hello, I have a youtube channel @theostrains2025, I'm going to do a screen shot competition 1st place becomes my icon (With your permission) 2nd becomes my banner (Again with your permission) and 3rd place gets a shout out
Don't usually take part in this type of stuff, but here's a rare situation when I fired up a timetable run on the Dresden to I can't remember the name of the station up the long hill, it gave me a 155 and dostos combo, must add this was TSW2......
The best photo I’ve seen in a long time. I’d be honoured if you could take some shots using my work. Here’s some of my latest work. And photos. But yes that photo is just glorious to see. Amazing work. The only ones I have to hand sorry. I forget to save mine too, well download them all. ✌
Thank you, I appreciate your words! I use to take some brilliant photos, I might be able to find some on TSW Twitter because they use to repost my pictures! If I can find them, will post them here
Any time mate. Okay sure that would be cool, similar to me on Reddit they used work like this for promotion. Sorry it’s mostly car but my LNER set is used by Reddit. I just don’t like to share that set ya see. Bad memories. All my own work even the police livery’s. I get you tho mate, so sure send some over when ya can ✌
Lovely pictures mate! I’m into the car scene as well, particularly Forza Horizon 5 for me! Anyways, I managed to find some photos I’ve took in the past when I have made livery’s on creators club. first picture - my Northern rail class 142 livery which is on creators club! second photo - my Northern rail class 158 livery which is also on creators club! third photo - when ECML first came out!
Hey glad you like the car photos, I was into Motorfest making liveries for cars and not Trains. I can’t stop being creative. Your work. Firstly your not SR are you? lol. I say this because the livery work is extremely well done. The 142 work and the photo is stunning. Having a great reskin and that money shot photo makes such a difference in presentation. All must work together hand in hand. Your work says to me you take that approach. Again work speaks for itself self at the end of the day. I wouldn’t need a salesman to sell me a Bentley So yes. I’m glad I seen this thread now. Lovely work and great speaking with you. Here’s a few shots I took today of a 801 for a theme I’m currently working on.
… After seeing some work and talk of photos I had a mess around with colour and no colour shots. Gotta say it seems the game gets better every time I go on track. Which isn’t much due to all the time I spend at the TSLP Paint Shops. About to head back there now to finish a 390 APT E livery off. Maybe we can speak again soon. And thanks for sharing your work, I’d love to see more. Rigsby. ✌
Lovely photos mate! Best advice I would say is try and make the photos be more vibrant. Secondly, some more distant shots would be lovely with the photos you do, great potential! I like my photos with that colour in them, for example, during daylight where it’s best on some routes, such as midland mainline, BB, CC etc. also, what do you mean when you mentioned “SR” to me? Never heard of it ahahaha! i appreciate you liking my photos a lot! Maybe I should get back into making photos and livery’s again!
That APT livery does look sweet! Maybe if the front was more of an orange-y yellow, instead of that green, it would look smoother, but that’s just me! I’ve been looking at making the old Northern rail purple and blue livery for the Cardiff Class 150/2 but it’s been so long that I have forgotten some of my techniques might give it a shot!
Thanks man. You see I wanted to use the colour palette of AWC. I love the BR Logo too and that 70s style. So I wanted to combine the colours with logo, add some text to the logo to make it feel modern a fresh. To stand out, bold modern yet with that contemporary look. I’m currently working on a few that are different yet have the same carriage theme across all units and 390 sets. Same with LNER and the 801. So a lot of work to do on the larger sets. And hey I’d get back to it, as I found after some time away from creating liveries then came back I was better than I was previously. I was talking to a community friend over the same thing, yesterday or the day before. We was talking about how we look at old work and even new work that we get to see little mistakes etc. So if you have been away then there is no better time than the now, fresh mind and a fresh perspective. If you need tips then if you want head over to this thread. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/the-works-shed.76063/ Only to not distract from your thread topics here So yes get stuck in, because you can make liveries Rigsby. ✌
Funnily enough, I’m currently working on a Northern rail livery for the class 153, as we speak. based on the unit 153328! I thought I’d give it a shot and it’s coming along well, just taking my time as I can’t copy layers to both sides as it’s a single unit but it’s looking lovely! The hardest part about making a livery for the 153 is each cab end is different in terms of exterior, such as where the lights are, so just making sure I use layers in the right spot and making sure they are not colliding. once I’m confident the livery is 99.5% done, I’m going to take it out on the Glossop line for some photos/ test run to make sure the colours are the right tone, then hopefully get it uploaded today! Thanks for sharing that link/thread, I’ll definitely check it out! in the meantime, here’s the progress as of 20:43 BST UK time:
Hey that is looking well. Looks like a nice model to work on too. But for copying then you should be able to. Be either directly grouping and then copy to other side. If not work on one side and project the text from side 1 to side 2. Then mirror. All that you have on the one side can be done flipped to the opposite side by the first step. If not then as I say you can still work from one side. The same as on the class 37 rog. The B end I had no access to so couldn’t apply the Railway 200 logo. So I worked from the front projected it then mirrored it so it read from left to right. So that’s front to back and so you can use the same method from side to side. I just place a yellow decal to cover over the projected Railway 200 then placed the BR logo to hide it all up. I hope this helps with any issues If you do get stuck just give us a shout or you have my permission to DM me. Yet as your well on the way with this livery then I can’t wait to see the finished product And yes for the link I only suggested it as some members can get a bit funny like. On The Works Shed tho it’s all about everything and anything related to liveries be TOCs or fictional. A more chilled atmosphere than a stuffy one. Hope to see you there one day in the near future. Cheers. Rigsby. ✌
Yeah normally, if you’re working with more than 1 carriage, you can copy but because the 153 is a single car unit, you can’t copy for some reason, so what I did was group stuff such as the logos, branding, signs, duplicate them and switched them sides which works. As for the blue wave pattern, all I had to do was just put projection all the way to 100 so that it would be mirrored on the other side. overall, I’m happy with it considering it’s been a long time. Going to play today so I can fix the windows I messed up on a little bit, should be an easy fix, then re upload it! it’s now live on creators club, managed to get it done around 01:15AM in the morning . cheers, Dion
I found it last night For the side issues then I thought they would be an easier option to take. I’ve been using this game for 6 years off and on. Looking at your old work I noticed that some goes back by 2 years or so. Got some good numbers too. So yes it has been a while since you done one and look at what you’ve created. As I say I did sub but not had time to check it out yet. I can see it’s a Job well done tho. Thanks for sharing. What do you have in mind for your next livery?. I only ask as I’m Project Leader of the R200 Team. So I think we still need some fancy DMUs or EMUs for the project and to celebrate with Railway 200 National event in August and September. It’s quite an interesting time and topic you see, so thought I’d mention the project I’m working on and awareness to the OFFICIAL RAILWAY 200 EVENT (NOT MINE). Anyway either way I’m looking forward to what you create next. Have Fun ✌
Next in mind is a northern rail livery (purple and blue) for the Cardiff class 150/2. Did attempt it not long ago but wasn’t easy so I left it. Now that I have done a livery again, wouldn’t mind giving the 150/2 a shot. Just might take longer as it’s 2 coaches, different model. I also work at a train depot doing night shifts so I also don’t always have the free time, get to work with my sprinters though!
I was trying to get a photo of the blue exhaust smoke whilst I was departing but it was hard to see and get a nice angle so I just went for a “more back” approach”!
I’m glad you mentioned the Cardiff 150/2 as I was thinking of getting either that DLC or the Mid may line one. Would you recommend it based on graphics and play time. Routes etc. Moving on the two will be a doddle. I’ve been working on 11 car 390 sets but had to put all that on hold. So been working on 3 or 4 car sets and they’re not difficult to just group about 20 decals and then copy on the other cars. Saves time so you can’t focus on the real deal. Well on for working in the rail industry. I know a few members that would love to have a job on the railways. Me being one but I’m past it now. What do you do if ya don’t mind me asking?. Your more than welcome to DM if you wish to not share publicly Anyway I’m off to bed myself. I have a night Job, working on liveries lol. ✌
Do you play with the other settings much. It can bring the darker tones out. Even the time of day months etc weather can help get the right light angles. The camera picks the smoke up better from certain angles too. I found this out when making sure I had power to all units in a US consist. I’d check for smoke to make sure I had power before heading up Sand Batch Grade. ✌
I’m a TPO for Northern rail (Train Presentation operative) basically a train cleaner! Finished college last year after 3 years and this is my first ever job at 19, cleaning trains at my local depot! Started officially on the 3rd of march at Allerton, did 5 days of training plus my PTS (personal track safety course). Passed that with ease and came back home to start my first shift! some nights can get busy with a lot of trains but my depot is the newest for northern rail I believe, 6 roads/tracks with 1 & 2 road being the fuel pads and engineering. It’s a good job, still settling in but getting there! also, as for between Cardiff and mildmay, I would say Cardiff because I feel like that’s a route that will be getting improved a lot. The class 153 is a lovely little dogbox to drive. The 150 has improved a good amount from WCL and it’s due some new sounds within these next few weeks. Also Just Trains 142 on the way as well for the route!
I use to play with the other settings but I actually forgot they existed until recently. Next time I’m on the game, will definitely get some more pics for the 153
Hey well that’s the best way to work your way you up. I’ve watched lots of old videos of what all the young lads had to do. Have you got your rule book the Forman would constantly say to the young appreciate. You can’t do owt with your book. So yes I know some might look down on such job titles or positions but working from the bottom up is the best way. Especially if you’re already making head way in your career. Im thankful to you for sharing, it’s always good to hear that someone’s doing well in life or chosen career path. I’m assuming you would want to become a driver, or even the maintenance side. And you may have to excuse me if I skip some parts of your message. I’m not what you’d call the sharpest tool in the shed, even tho I might sound clued up. But sounds a busy place to be, so make sure you stay safe I’m a little bit older now (Edit) and so when people use to say to me just keep ya head down, listen and take pride in your work, well then every time you come how it will be with a sense of accomplishment. Pride. A Job well done Okay and thanks for this information then. I don’t follow what’s up and coming much. If it’s made by JT then I think I will get that DLC, I find what they do is of very good quality. Plus you obviously know more than me with being around the real deal so know what you’re talking about. So I will listen to the advice and see what I can do. Just seems like as soon as one DLC comes out another one pops up. Again thanks for sharing and for the advice. Hope you have a wonderful weekend Rigsby. ✌
Yes I’d definitely have a play. For anyone that loves trains and photography then it’s an amazing experience to be fair. Most of my photo work is not pre planned, so a certain scenic spot. Basically not properly set myself up for real sweet photos. Not sure I’ve I shown you these but I’d pre planned these shots. I think this was one of my first livery’s done after a year and half hiatus. I felt my work improved like I was explaining a few post back about how we may approach work differently after some time away. I definitely feel my work has improved since my return. Using photo mode is a really nice way to present work. I could spend hours taking photos, it’s such a nice part of the gaming experience. So yes if you get time have a good play with the tools and settings. I messed around with this shot because I like the photo that currently up on the loading screen. ……..
Yeah it’s a good career path to get into, especially with the company and what they can offer job wise. After my 6 months of probation ends, I can apply for any role that’s available in the company and build my way up. being at my local depot for almost 4 months now, there are roles that look fun to me, such as either being a fitter (maintenance) or a Depot driver, which I would really love as I have knowledge on how to drive a train. The trains we get are class 150/1, class 156, and always 1 Class 195. Every now and then, we do get 1 class 150/2 which is unit 150224, had her come in last night!
Hey sorry for my late response. And Thank you To be fair I post edited them by adjusting the frame size that’s all tho. Again in photo mode the game really looks fantastic anyway, it’s about camera positioning so one can get those all important money shots. I think the class 40 and 37s look so beefy from a front on angle. ✌
Hey well the world’s your oyster here then. You have so many options available to you. I guess it’s depends on where you see yourself a few years down the line (Pardon the pun). Also if it’s the money or the joy of a Job. Speaking from experience I’ve been involved with heavy manufacturing and maintenance in production engineering to fitting and maintaining equipment for Airbus. That’s all behind me now and it was a great experience and money but it was very hard work. I had no weekends or nights out on the pop. So it’s not a young man’s game but I think I would be completely different in the rail industry due to the strict safety regulations. Maybe a driver as operators are reducing their age limits so it could be a good time for you if that opportunity came up. I know a lot of people would love to be in your position. Me being on of them. You definitely have the passion by the sounds so I wish you every success in what you decide to choose. The way the rail industry is at the moment I’m sure you can try as many options you wish before deciding. As I say it’s such an exciting time at the moment with the renationalising of Englands railways. I’ll see if a class 150s due for a GBR Rebrand What depot do you work out off again. Allerton was it? and do you know what pool is allocated there?. I might have a play as I’m working on rebranding as many units as I can. A possibly future project. Again thank you for sharing and it’s been a pleasure speaking with you Rigsby. ✌
Looking at the attachments then they are all my own work. TSLP. So I’m not disrespectful to the thread creator then here is my TSLP paint shop thread link. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/the-tslp-paint-shop.91643/ Please feel free to contact me there if you would like me to provide any further information you may require. Thanks. Rigsby. ✌
Correct it’s not all my work as in the class 66 photo the class 66 is my work but all the wagons seen are by a community friend https://forums.dovetailgames.com/members/speedfreak-6380.55148/ Just wanted to make that clear because speedfreak works very very hard on all his work so deserves any credit due. Rigsby. ✌
