I have an interesting route suggestion: Bangor - Belfast - Dundalk + York Road & Fortwilliam Depot. This route was covered back in the day on MSTS (Fortwilliam - Dundalk) but it would be nice to see in TSW6. Some more details: Era: 2024/2025 (post opening of Grand Central) Why? Back then there was still a massive variety of trains on the network most of which were either scrapped or preserved. Trains: NIR 3000 Class - used on all NIR Routes + Enterprise from time to time NIR 4000 Class (used on NIR only) NIR/IE 201 Class + Enterprise De Dietrich Carriages + 9000 Class DVT (used on the Enterprise between Belfast and Dublin) For possible DLCs for the route they could include the NIR 111 Class with Ballast Hoppers running between Belfast and Poyntzpass Also if it’s the track gauge that is stopping it, we’re fine with standard gauge!
If LiDAR isn’t available then normal DEM to the best resolution would suffice. The first routes that were built for MSTS didn’t even have that, all the terrain had to be hand crafted. And references extracted from paper maps then converted to coordinates the editor could read! Re NIR, the star of the show would surely be Belfast to Derry and Portrush? Very scenic and the attraction of single line running too. As always, problem remains getting DTG interested in moving away from their comfort zone to do something a bit different.
Bring it on but you have a problem the train protection system past Dundalk isn't of the British type but of the Republic of Ireland CAWS. Meaning the developers what happened to model that station with both the standard UK equipment of Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland in that station
