Hi, since the first TSW was released, I've always used outdoor camera number 3. I move the camera in front of the train and have the entire landscape in view and can also hear the outside sounds of the train and everything around it very well - I really like this view.
Since TSW 4, I can no longer drive through a single tunnel without the position of the outside camera crashing - why is that? Attached you can see a screenshot of the route Kassel - Würzburg as I normally drive and what the outside camera looks like as soon as I drive into a tunnel.
Can you please fix this? 20230930222808_1.jpg 20230930222816_1.jpg

I also use this view a lot*. I find if I have the camera positioned close to the top of the loco, it could get 'knocked off' on entering tunnels (this glitch has been present since TSW1). If I position it slightly lower (around the top of the windscreen) it rarely happens.

    * not so much on German routes, where I like to drive with all the safety systems on and find the normal cab view easier to manage them.

I agree with you that if you set the camera too high, it will always be smeared. Unfortunately, since TSW4 it happens everywhere, even when I hold them just above the ground and in fact in every tunnel in every DLC. You can no longer drive through a tunnel normally. I actually find the cabin view boring, I want to see as much of the route as possible and also enjoy the sounds of the locomotive/train.
Dovetail should fix this urgently, because a game with a tunnel is no longer playable.

    Wouldn't call it a problem.

As far as they see it, the trains are still driveable.

Yeah, let's pretend the OP is a rivet counter. TSW4 broke something that former versions handled better, but you can still drive the train. As long as it moves everything is fine.

    Seriously?

I also drive with "Nose cam", and this "Issue" is actually annoying.
It's the way I enjoy playing. Please let me do so again.

3 cam ideal for driving stock with narrow letterbox windows or even sometimes steam. Please put back the ability to use in tunnels.

That seems to be the approach DTG takes.

My driving preference too is driving outside of cab just in front of train. There were the odd locations in TSW3 where a tunnel or bridge would throw you out (e.g. a tunnel on SEHS and a couple of locations on London Commuter) but generally was okay. Was mildly annoying but not a biggy. Now in TSW4 during ECML for example it’s happening at every tunnel and pretty much every bridge. If you keep very very low down, below driver level, you sometimes get away with it. If slightly higher up but pan the view right down approaching a bridge, again may get away with it. But it’s incredibly infuriating for me and breaks my immersion. I would have hoped TSW4 would have been a step forward in this or at least no worse, so it’s disappointing to put it mildly to see it happening more frequently on the new route.

Even better an option like MSTS had to toggle the cab mask off entirely for unobstructed front view, just using the HUD.

I think a front facing camera is commonly used enough to warrant a dedicated fixed view. This way we wouldn't be knocked about when entering tunnels and we also shouldn't be forced back into the cab when your game designers deem it unacceptable to be using other external cameras, like on Bakerloo.

I’m assuming that would be really difficult with the insanely complex models, sounds and physics in TSW and possibly break a lot of things. Still, what’s stopping them from adding a simple nose cam view to the interior camera options, like the views out of the left and right windows?

I too agree with this, the external camera going under certain bridges and through almost all tunnels has been ruined since tsw4, and i would really appreciate this being fixed, or at least returned to how it used to be

Is it all tunnels broken in TSW4? swear that at least some still work.

I hope they can fix easily!

Will this ever get recognised seriously by DTG that this is how many players like to play the game and make sure we can enjoy the game our way? How they have managed to break it so spectacularly is a mystery. They have even gone back to locking the external cameras from tunnels in the new routes presumably because this issue is so bad. There is supposedly a fix coming but we will have to see if it fixes just the wild wobbly behaviour or the knocking the camera out of position every time.

Fixed front camera, requested so many times, easy to implement but ignored, is needed more now than ever before.

Hello, we hear the feedback about the cameras bouncing around unexpectedly when using the external view through tunnels or under bridges. Our teams believe it may be colliding incorrectly with invisible audio markers and we're investigating this currently. We'll let you know when we have an update.

Be great if the flyby camera (number 4) from TSC could be in TSW.

    Good news Alex.
Going out on a limb here, could this be related to the reverb we are now hearing? (Sometimes)

thank you for the acknowledgement of the issue here! Really hope this can be fixed in an upcoming update, it would genuinely help a lot of players enjoy the game even more, so thank you for looking into this.
