It's clear that one of the strengths of German routes is the amount of layering: there is a strong base of rolling stock that can boost the timetable of any new route, and can in turn be increased with each new rolling stock. This should be the aspiration for all countries, although for the UK it's harder because of the lack of one main operator. However, I think a few strategically chosen rolling stock packs, of trains that are widespread enough, would a) enhance existing routes, and b) create a basis for variety in future routes. The first suggestion is the Turbostar. There are many variations and liveries, but a pack could: * Add more services to Cross-City (both XC and WMR), as well as increase AI at New St * Add more services to EMR (XC), plus AI at Leicester * Add more services and AI to Scotrail Express (Scotrail, obvs) * Add AI to Cathcart Circle Other options, primarily AI at the moment would be: * Northern 170 (for Glossop and ECML) * Southern 171 (for East Coastway, SEHS, and London to Brighton) For future addons, there are at least 12 more livery variations, current or historical, that could be adapted. And that's before we start thinking of 172s. The 170 is by no means my favourite train (although I quite like them), but I feel like rolling stock DLC should prioritise what enhances the existing routes' timetables.
Ah, turbostars, one of the most numerous DMUs in England. You could fill in a lot of gaps with these or introduce new routes (ie Chiltern main line).
I would welcome this add-on and if the integration of the timetables are doable, that means we can all jump into a real life timetable and I approve of this.
