Morning everyone, I've always thought that the door control system that the 110 and 103 use for the old IC coaches and the n-Wagen was incompatible with the one on newer trains. That's not actually the case: you can use a new loco with the old IC coaches or the n-Wagen and make the doors work. You simply have to set the door side selector switch to "both sides" before opening the doors, and your passengers will be smart enough to figure out which side to use. I don't know if I just "discovered" something that's been common knowledge in the community for ages and I just happened to miss, but posting just in case it isn't. I also haven't had the opportunity to find out if I can make the AI do this in timetable mode yet, but even if that doesn't work, you can have fun with this in Timetable Mode or Scenario Planner...
This is also the case in real life. Most of the older coaches has the most basic door lock system, TB0. Because it’s the most basic form of any lock system, a lot of modern locomotives have it.
Sure, I know that that's how it works in real life, but until today, I was under the impression that this wasn't a thing in TSW. Weren't we told the 101 didn't substitute for the 103 on LFR because the doors weren't compatible with it?
Well it wasn't, and still isn't in TSW3, I did try this a few months and it didn't work, the AI couldn't figure it out either.
