A route suggestion I feel like would make a decent add-on, I considered what DTG is known to hold licences for, as well as the general length of route that is made in the game. With that in mind, I would like to suggest the Tyne Valley line. It runs from Newcastle over to Carlisle, linking the East and West Coast Main Lines just south of the Scottish border. It is 61 miles long and has 16 stations en-route. A full run typically takes around 80-90 minutes depending upon calling pattern. A route map showing where the line goes and the stations it passes through: It has a mix of fairly close stations and a more dense environment at the Newcastle end and rural countryside heading towards Carlisle, complete with plenty of semaphore signalling and traditional signal boxes. General off-peak service pattern is as such: 2 trains an hour running the full length of the route from Newcastle to Carlisle, one runs fast, only stopping at Haltwhistle, Hexham, Prudhoe and Metrocentre, one runs semi-fast, serving all of the intermediate stations between Carlisle and Hexham before taking the same stopping pattern as the fast service to Newcastle; services often continue past Newcastle towards Morpeth 1 train an hour between Hexham and Newcastle stopping at all stations; usually continues past Newcastle towards Middlesbrough Peak extras between Newcastle and Metrocentre/Prudhoe, as well as more variety in calling patterns LNER diversions between Newcastle and Edinburgh via Carlisle Rolling Stock: These are the units that typically work the line on a day-to-day basis: Class 156 (new unit for TSW) Class 158 (previously included in the MML add-on but put into the Northern livery and spec) Class 800 (for the LNER diversions) There is freight of course, the venerable Class 66 can make another appearance here too. Going back in time a few years, the Northern icon that is the Class 142 frequently operated on the route as well. Extra thoughts: This would also provide scope for an expanded Guard Mode should that be desired, given that all trains on the route carry guards and that the stations for much of it are relatively close together so the player should be kept relatively busy, this would cater for it quite well. Conclusion: I realise of course this won't be the most sought-after route in the world, however there isn't much in the way of modern diesel routes and I have tried to work within the constraints of what has been done within the game so far to come up with something that should be feasible and still provide some enjoyment for the player.
Seems like a route better set in a different period, probably best not to focus the game on time periods what don’t provide much first. just my thoughts
Great idea, however I personally would love for this to be a Just Trains project setting it in the same period as their Blackpool and upcoming WCML Routes, tying into the Route Hopper function at Carlisle Station.
A great idea for a route which I know has been suggested before. This line has the sort of variety that Train SIM world needs and the class 156 is highly suggested.
Love this suggestion, would it be possible to add in up to Morpeth, as some services continue from Newcastle up to Morperh
