This route would be a cool line with no completions and confusions. Like Glossop line without the stupid triangle thing.

    The stock

There are two trains that would come with this route.
Class 156 - This train is similar to the class 150 which is already in game. Two coaches with a top speed of 75 mph.
Class 158 - This train is already in game so it would be a simple case of applying new colours.
Class 68 - A modern freight loco that would be new to the game

Freight is a big thing in the Tyne valley line. Most of the traction is provided by class 66s and class 68s, with the visit of class 37s once in a while. There are a lot of light engine moves between Tyne Yard and Carlisle yard. The freight is usually nuclear flask trains, rhtt trains, and aggregate, with the rare sight of an intermodal train.

    The route

The route would start at Newcastle, where it would cross the King Edward 7th bridge and take the junction to Dunston. Passing Metrocentre and Blaydon, the route follows the banks of the Tyne. Passing through scenic countryside you get to Hexham where some trains from Newcastle terminate. Continuing, you will pass Haltwhistle and Wetherall which takes you past Carlisle yard and into the station.

The mobilisation of freight would mean that the route would be extended down to Tyne Yard in Low fell and Birtley.

    Layers

There aren’t many trains that could layer on to this route however the ones that could are as follows:

    Class 20 - Railtour + Nuclear flask
Class 37 - Railtour + Nuclear flask + Rhtt empty
    Class 66 - Freight
    Jubilee - Railtour
    Class 47 - Railtour

Thanks for reading my suggestion, if you have anything to add, leave a comment!

I really love this section of railway line and one I will take the mrs on sometimes when I finish in newcastle (she'll jump on my train to Newcastle then we go for a ride on the line) and would love to see it in game as it isn't too empty and offers scenic beauty at the same time. Brilliant suggestion mate!

Sounds like a great route, anything with a 158 in I'm all for. How long would the route be?
Would be nice to see the Nuclear flasks added as well.

This would be a great route to have in TSW though my preference would be a slightly earlier era to do Carlisle full justice, when all the avoiding lines and yards were still open.
