Dovetail Games Unannounced Content Leak - 19 July

Good afternoon,

We can confirm that unannounced, confidential, early work-in-progress game material was leaked over the weekend through various channels. We take this matter very seriously and are actively investigating the source of the breach.

We appreciate the excitement that many of you have been sharing over the past couple of days. We would like to stress at this stage that these images have been taken from early, work-in-progress builds, and we will provide more information on the content coming to Train Sim World in Dovetail Direct on Tuesday, August 20th. We won’t be commenting further on the content shared until that date.

Outside of this, we are deeply saddened that an individual, or group of individuals, has shared confidential information, given the potential legal ramifications of breaching an NDA and/or contract – and we will be investigating all avenues and our options.

As a result of this, we will be restricting who we entrust with access to unreleased content, which unfortunately includes our beta community. This is a difficult decision, which may impact the ability for our beta community to test and offer feedback on content before it is publicly available. We realise that 99.9% of those with access to our early builds do a brilliant job, and offer a vital opportunity for us get early feedback – this measure is the best course of action for us whilst we investigate.

We would urge anyone with information to come forward, to allow us to operate as before and to bring you the best possible experiences. If anyone has any information or details around the content shared that may help us to identify the person(s) responsible, please reach out to us privately, via DM. We will treat any messages in the strictest of confidence. Thank you.

We will also be making the following changes to our forum moderation policy:

1. New accounts will automatically require post approval
2. Accounts knowingly sharing confidential information will have action taken against them, which could result in a forum ban
3. Threads started that share known confidential information will be locked with confidential information removed.
