Welcome to the Unofficial Screenshot Competition
This is a fun and friendly alternative to the official Screenshot Competition run by DTG.
Here you can share your weekly themed TSC screenshots using any 3rd party / post shot editing etc. creations which are not allowed in the official competition.
    Rules:
    TSC only shots allowed.
Screenshot should be in some way (can be very tenuous) linked to the theme. Otherwise anything goes.
You can enter up to 3 screenshots, posted as separate posts. You can delete and replace if you wish.
3rd party content / Reshades / Reskins etc. are welcomed but are not mandatory.
Previous week's winner to decide winner (can't enter themselves).
The winner chooses the new theme for next week (and becomes the new judge).
The Judge of the week's decision is final.
We strongly discourage any negative comment or criticism of another entry by a fellow contributor, this is a light hearted & fun contest! This is a major "we are all friendly" thread and we hope it will always remain so.
Please keep chat to an absolute minimum.
Entries will close at 2100 UTC on Friday, February 23rd 2024 and will be judged by me - DrTrenchcoat

In the event of this weeks winner not responding by 1700 UTC Sunday, February 24th, a new thread will be created using the theme with the highest votes in this weeks poll.
Theme for this week : "DC Electrics"
Feel free to interpret the theme however you wish.
Good luck to all, but most importantly, remember to have fun.

Southeastern Class 395 '395021' travels along the North Kent Line heading east to Faversham on the Chatham Main Line on a 6 coach long passenger service originating from St Pancras International on a foggy Summers day. The train began it's journey on the High Speed 1 Line utilising 25 kV 50 Hz AC overhead wire power but upon reaching Ebbsfleet International switched to 750 V DC third rail power to continue the journey to Faversham as the North Kent Line and Chatham Main Line have DC third rail power equipped instead AC overhead wires.

    Route: London-Faversham High Speed

    British Rail Class 421 3.jpg
The old vs the new DC electrics of the south United Kingdom. The British Rail Class 377s were introduced under Southern in 2003 to replace the aging British Rail Class 421s operating into privatisation under Southern after having been in service since 1964 and are seen here side by side in the last years of main line British Rail Class 421 operations but in the first years of main line British Rail Class 377 operations. Southern Class 421s '1738' and '1735' lead an express service beginning at London Victoria and join the Brighton Main Line equipped with 750 V DC third rail power and terminate their service at Brighton with 1 stop in between at East Croydon during a foggy Summers afternoon.

Locos: British Rail Class 377, British Rail Class 421
    Route: London to Brighton

While most overhead electric lines in Britain were 25kV by the 1980s, one holdout was the Woodhead Line in the north of England. Although closed to passengers in 1970, it survived as a freight route, and a pair of Class 76s travels along with a coal train from Wath to Fiddlers Ferry Power Station.

Route: Woodhead Electric Railway in Blue
    Loco: Class 76

It is 1986 and the 3P22 mail and parcel service was due to be hauled by 73121. Unfortunately it has developed a fault in its leading cab, but is still able to provide power. Demonstrating the versatility of the Southern Region stock, and the 73s in particular, 2307 which has just come off a B-exam, tops the train. The class 73 is able to work in multiple with 2307, and can also translate the brake signals to operate the vacuum brakes on the parcels vans.
    Loco:- AP Class 411 / 412

Evening everyone, it's now time to judge the screenshots. Thanks to everyone who submitted images.
In third place we have PhÜnKî_Rø0sTā with a lovely shot of slamdoor stock on the way to london.
The saturation has a nice effect of making it look like an old scan.
In second place we have malikrthr's shot of a metro north genesis screaming through riverdale. The lighting on this one is what makes it standout, the shadows on all the coaches in the evening light is really lovely.
In first place we have Blazin's shot of Southern's transition away from slamdoor stock. The composition is lovely (though I worry for the photographer's safety) and the general vibe of the screenshot really evokes that period in the mid 2000s. I must also say it's clever to keep the 421 a bit further back so as not to expose the model's weakness.

So on to you Blazin, thanks again to everyone who entered and I look forward to next week's contest.
