Welcome to the Unofficial Screenshot Competition
This is a fun and friendly alternative to the official Screenshot Competition run by DTG.
Here you can share your weekly themed TSC screenshots using any 3rd party / post shot editing etc. creations which are not allowed in the official competition.
    Rules:
    • TSC only shots allowed.
    • Screenshot should be in some way (can be very tenuous) linked to the theme. Otherwise anything goes.
    • You can enter up to 3 screenshots, posted as separate posts. You can delete and replace if you wish.
    • 3rd party content / Reshades / Reskins etc. are welcomed but are not mandatory.
    • Previous week's winner to decide winner (can't enter themselves).
    • The winner chooses the new theme for next week (and becomes the new judge).
    • The Judge of the week's decision is final.
    • We strongly discourage any negative comment or criticism of another entry by a fellow contributor, this is a light hearted & fun contest! This is a major "we are all friendly" thread and we hope it will always remain so.
    • Please keep chat to an absolute minimum.
Entries will close at 9:00 PM GMT on Friday, June 23rd and will be judged by me - Blazin

In the event of this weeks winner not responding by 5:00 PM GMT Sunday, June 25th, a new thread will be created using the theme with the highest votes in this weeks poll.

This weeks theme will be The Middle of Nowhere - you are free to interpret this as you wish. An example photo has been provided below if you are stuck or need ideas.
    Good luck to you all.

    EXAMPLE SCREENSHOT

Remember! It doesn't have to exactly be like this, like I said, it can be your own interpretation of the theme! The example screenshot is only a guideline if you are stuck. :D

Just to break the silence - I have collected some candidates, will post them later.
Profile spying indicates that some of the regulars might be offline, hopefully enjoying summer.

Okie-dokie. I actually wanted five, but rules are rules. In order of taking them...
Just like with Cajon, being out in the middle of nowhere doesn't mean it has to be a desert. Colton & Northern should be just fine.
I suppose you can guess the rolling stock.
Or not? Okay. Gondola-Rotary Wagons in UP and BNSF colors, pulled by an EMD SD40-2 in worn UP... beige?

The second offering is fairly straightforward.
I skipped a few greener alternatives in favor of this shot from the very first scenario.
Here you can see a GE ES44AC chasing the waking moon.

Last, but not least, a mood shot.
The main thing about American (and Australian, lest not forget Canadian) railroading is that much of the land is less habitable; whether it's a desert like the Salt Flats or Mojave-Cajon, simply hot like Texas, windy like Wyoming (above) or inhospitably steep and harsh during winter, is merely variation of cause.
Even though I realise the Donner Pass is actually quite inhabited, it doesn't feel so in the simulation, just like the Northeast Corridor which is casually surrounded by a treeline. I think this is a section shortly after the merge of the two lines (currently single track in real life).
I think this livery is called Black Widow, an early EMD F7 offering, I understand variations were shipped to other railroads.

In the middle of nowhere, in the very early hours, somewhere between Carnforth and Gretna, illuminated only by the Flash from the pantograph and the cab and headlights, 87 035 "Robert Burns" heads a glasgow bound train.
    Loco:- AP Class 87
    Route:- WCML North

Hello everyone! Time to announce the winners for Week 25 of the 2023 Unofficial Screenshot Competition. :D
Not that many submissions this week but still had some fantastic ones and it was hard to pick the top 3 winners.

In 3rd place we have cscarpenter with an awesome screenshot of a Railion freight train navigating the lonely mountainsides of Europe!
    3rd Place.jpg
In 2nd place, we have triznya.andras with this amazing screenshot on Sherman Hill. I love the atmosphere this one provides, definitely feels like the middle of nowhere with no houses or roads in sight and the sign saying that you have reached the highest point on the transcontinental railroad.
    2nd Place.jpg
In 1st place, we have paulc, with this lovely screenshot of sunlight hitting a British Rail Class 37 in Norwich!

Thank you everyone for submitting screenshots this week and congratulations to the winners. I hand it over to you paulc for next week, I can't wait to see the theme you choose!
