Welcome to the Unofficial Screenshot Competition! This is a fun and friendly alternative to the official Screenshot Competition run by DTG. Our rules: Screenshot should be in some way (can be very tenuous) linked to the theme. You can enter up to 3 pictures, posted separately. You can delete and replace if you wish. TSC only shots allowed. 3rd party content, enhancement and artistic editing is accepted. Thread poster picks the podium and can't enter themselves. The decision is final. The winner chooses the new theme for next week and becomes its judge. We strongly discourage any negativity, this is a light hearted & fun contest! This is a major "we are all friendly" thread and we hope it will always remain so. Please keep chat to an absolute minimum. The theme this week is Freestyle Entries will close at 9:00 PM GMT on Friday, August 11th and will be judged by Nick Y. (Nick Y will be judging again this week but he has asked me to put up the thread for him) In the event of this week's winner not responding by 5:00 PM GMT Sunday, August 13th, a new thread will be created with the backup theme with the most votes from the poll. Good luck and have fun!

Waiting on the right away at St Austell as a storm front approaches.at dawn. Class 47 Western mainlines
Route: Karawakenbahn Train: OBB 1293. SLO:Prelepa slovenska pokrajina! (EN: The beautiful slovenian countryside!)
Lovely shots so far. I'm going to share some oldies as I'm currently going down with some sickness. Of particular note are the shots by I'm-a-railfan where I'm observing a fantastic leap in quality. Here is Aerosoft's Mosel Valley (Koblenz-Trier) with a veteran vR ICE 1. In this run I tried to replicate its original spirit with running it as a regional EMU on Hagen-Siegen.
Also trying to score again in this one with one of my prides this year, the S9BL Class 158 on Weardale & Teesdale.
Last, but not least. I random mistake (pressing 7 instead of 8) this time resulted in a very likeable scenery, of course adjusted a bit. It is a Rio Grande SD40T-2 set pulling a manifest (mixed train) up to Soldier Summit. While the last (oldest) shot in my weekly might be slightly better (up to you to decide), I like the unusual approach in this one.
Should have kept an eye on last week's thread! Oh well. Here's another 37. With Summer finally showing its face in Britain, we go back to 1996 and a Class 37 growls along the North Wales Coast with the 20:26 Bangor-Chester stopping service, with celebrity 37 37116 Sister Dora at the head and a spectacular sunset behind. Route: North Wales Coastal - Crewe to Holyhead (original) Loco: AP Class 37 Vol 2
A class 47 blasting along the Riviera line in the down direction on the Paddington - Penzance beds Route: Western Manlines Train: Class47
2311 Powers past Nunhead with 1Z55 Blackfriars to Sevenoaks, The first leg of the "3rd Rail Rambler". The Tour was run to show off the newly restored TSO 10679. As such the set has become a "5BEP", something not seen before much to the disdain of the rivet counters. Train: AP Class 412 "5BEP" Route: Southeastern Network by Niklas/Vaffelen
The year is 2010 as Fastline liveried 66305 leaves Ratcliffe on Soar power station with a rake of empty HYA coal hoppers. Loco:- AP Class 66 Route:- JT Midland Mainline (Nottingham - Leicester extension)
A South West Trains 3CEP "Lymington Flyer" leaves Lymington Pier on a beautiful evening service. Loco:- AP Class 412 Route:- South Western Mainline (Southampton - Bournemouth)
15 minutes later the same "Lymington Flyer" arrives at Brockenhurst Station Platform 4 Loco:- AP Class 412 Route:- South Western Mainline (Southampton - Bournemouth)
wow, this is going to be another difficult week to judge. I won't get chance tonight to select the winners so I will have to do it tomorrow evening after my volunteer shift.
What an excellent week!! I’ll see if I can get some last minute submissions of my own in later today when I get home.
NJ Transit Bombardier ALP-46 '4611' leads the 6 coach long Midtown Direct passenger service along the Morristown Line headed for Dover during the Summer of 2017. Loco: Bombardier ALP-46 Route: North Jersey Coast & Morristown Lines

A rather busy scene at Poschiavo in Switzerland sees Rhaetian Railway ABe 8/12 '3510' 'Alberto Giacometti' preparing to depart for Tirano in Italy. Loco: Rhaetian Railway ABe 8/12 Route: Bernina Line: Poschiavo - Tirano
I know the thread says 9pm Friday in the rules for the deadline but, I for one am all for suggesting we forgo the posted deadline to allow Blazin's shots to be considered as the competition is being judged today
I agree, I feel that it is up to the judge to decide if they are eligible for consideration. Essentially i feel any pics up to time of judging can be posted.
Fine by me, we were late starting this weeks comp and as you say as long as they have been posted before judging don't see a problem, the more the merrier.
Don't worry folks. I have seen the messages and I had intended to let any late entries be counted as I did say I couldn't judge until this evening due to volunteering at WR. Once I've sat down and had food etc, I will go through the pics and choose the winners (although it will be a tough one again).
Ok, it was really hard to choose this week but here we go. In 3rd place Blazin with this scene in Switzerland we have joint second places and these go to cscarpenter for the shot of the class 412 departing Lymington Pier and also johnno124 for another old skool EMU shot with the class 412 In first place this week paulc with this lovely in-cab shot from a class 86 Congratulations paulc. It was a worthy shot. I have to admit, it was a toss up between this and the fantastic shot of 37558 'Avro Vulcan XH558' crossing Lingwood LC. As I said last week, I'm a sucker for 37s All the entries this week were fantastic so everyone else gets an honourable mention for their entries. It was great to see shots from other countries rail networks appearing. I now hand over the master key to paulc.
Congratulations to the winners and thank you for 3rd place and including my screenshots in the contest despite being late.
Thanks for the runner up placing, I'll take that any week. Another fantastic week of quality shots, well done to all, and a big shout out to you Nick for running this weeks comp, much appreciated.
Thanks for the win always appreciated! I`ll get on with manufacturing the next comp right now! Congrats to everyone else, great shots this week. EDIT - New comp live: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/unofficial-screenshot-competition-2023-week-33.72320/
Thanks for the equal second. Been off TS for a while so only got back on it the other day when i took that shot.
