Welcome to the Unofficial Screenshot Competition This is a fun and friendly alternative to the official Screenshot Competition run by DTG. Here you can share your weekly themed TSC screenshots using any 3rd party / post shot editing etc. creations which are not allowed in the official competition. Rules: TSC only shots allowed. Screenshot should be in some way (can be very tenuous) linked to the theme. Otherwise anything goes. You can enter up to 3 screenshots, posted as separate posts. You can delete and replace if you wish. 3rd party content / Reshades / Reskins etc. are welcomed but are not mandatory. Previous week's winner to decide winner (can't enter themselves). The winner chooses the new theme for next week (and becomes the new judge). The Judge of the week's decision is final. We strongly discourage any negative comment or criticism of another entry by a fellow contributor, this is a light hearted & fun contest! This is a major "we are all friendly" thread and we hope it will always remain so. Please keep chat to an absolute minimum. Entries will close at 9:00 PM BST on Friday, April 26th 2024 and will be judged by me - cscarpenter In the event of this weeks winner not responding by 5:00 PM BST Sunday, April 28th, a new thread will be created using the theme with the highest votes in this weeks poll. Theme for this week : "Back In The Day" Feel free to interpret the theme however you wish. Good luck to all, but most importantly, remember to have fun.
Back in the day; steam was the dominating power of the railways in the world as whole. But going into the 1960s; the railways of the United Kingdom began to see a shift to modern diesel power. In the fictional British location of Setterfield we see a very real situation where British Railways Stanier Class 5 4-6-0 '44839' is rusting away to the end of it's service life and the revenue service of British steam as a whole relegated to shunting duties while the modern diesels take over the main passenger and freight work as seen with a nearby British Rail Class 47 blasting through with a passenger train. Locos: British Rail Class 47, LMS Stanier Class 5 4-6-0 Route: Granfield Branch Line Scenario: Shunting In A Winter Wonderland Enhancements: Armstrong Powerhouse Sky & Weather Enhancement Pack 2.0 + Armstrong Powerhouse Cloud Enhancement Pack, RW Enhancer 2, ReShade
Early morning sunshine at Sunshine! Back in the day; the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad was the dominating railroad of the south-west American railroads and this is seen here with a relatively new for the time quintuple set of Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe EMD GP35s heading westbound on manifest service Train 307 through Sunshine, Arizona as the early morning sunlight illuminates the train bound for Phoenix, Arizona located further south during the Spring of 1966. Loco: EMD GP35 Route: Arizona Divide: Winslow - Williams Scenario: [SFC 1.04] Phoenix Bound Freight, Pt. 1 Enhancements: Armstrong Powerhouse Sky & Weather Enhancement Pack 2.0 + Armstrong Powerhouse Cloud Enhancement Pack, RW Enhancer 2, ReShade
Route: Wakayam & Sakurai Lines Train: JNR Class 103 Kitauchi station before it was rebuilt which removed the reverse siding and moved the station.
Route: JT Newcastle-Edinburgh TRain: AP Class 321, Class 55 Ah, the days when First Group were operating Scotrail and also a railtour pulled by a class 55.
Back in the day when the Bulleid Rebuilt Light Pacifics were the loco of choice across the Southern region. 34004 "Yeovil" is seen with a 12 car express service.
Back in the day, when the Morris Minor was the car of choice for many a 1950s motorist in the UK, Black 5 48304 is captured taking a consignment of new cars over the Ribblehead Viaduct on the way to Carlisle.
A Picture Postcard Image of "Back In The Day" when steam was the choice of propulsion for many industries. (Caledonia Works NE GCR 8K with a mixed freight train.) Please click on image to view full screen to fully enjoy, thanks.
Back in the day 87`s were a common sight on the WCML hauling Intercity services up and down the country, here 87026 Sir Richard Arkwright pauses at Liverpool Lime St before pushing the service back to Euston.
No one is waiting this rainy morning for a westbound express to Philadelphia 30th Street. An aging GG1 is still in charge of this train however Amtrak has been seen testing a Swedish and French locomotive for testing.
In the summer of 1938 there are bad times just around the corner, but despite the brewing storm V Class 933 leads the 1:45 PM Saturday only Weymouth to Waterloo express across the Rock Lea River in the pouring rain. Loco: PLD Schools Class Route: GAD Dorset Coast
Hey, I'm back after a long time. I've been having problems with my eyes. I've searched some saved screens and these might be on topic. Route: West Highland Line Extension (Fort William to Mallaig)
2) Route: West Highland Line Extension (Fort William to Mallaig) Trasa: West Highland Line Extension (Fort William - Mallaig)
Back in the day, even cars went on trains! A weathered 50046 'Ajax' trundles along Dawlish Seafront with a Motorail bound for St Austel. Route: Riviera Line In The 50's Loco: AP Class 50
Back in the day when mail was carried all over the rail network, 90019 Penny Black passes through Penrith with the overnight Sheildmuir-Willesden postal. Route: WCML over Shap Loco: AP Class 90
Back in the day; which honestly wasn't all that long ago, Kalispell, Montana was a lovely railway town on the appropriately named Kalispell Subdivision! As of 2019; BNSF has unfortunately closed a large section of the rail that enters directly into the Kalispell township as of 2019 such as the small shunting yard as seen here where BNSF EMD SW1500 '3432' wearing an ex-Burlington Northern livery shunts refrigerator wagons in the shunt yards of Kalispell undertaking driver training sessions. Loco: EMD SW1500 Route: Marias Pass: Shelby - Whitefish Ignore the fact that this is very late and past the designated deadline but the judge has not made the final announcement just yet so I reckon it counts
Well what can I say? Thank you all for an absolutely stonking set of captures, they are all just brilliant. I have really struggled to weed out winners, but weed out I must so here goes. I award equal 3rd place to Obelix for this cracking Riviera Castle shot. and also to BritishRail60062 for this superb Slovenia - Austria freight offering. Equal 2nd Place goes to trainsandgames for this wonderful Class 50 shot........... ....... and georgeuk90 for this moody nighttime mail service. After much deliberation I have decided to bestow the honour of being this week's winner to Craigie-C for this beautiful Picture Postcard image of a GCR 8K Freight Train. For those of you who did not make the podium places, please give yourselves a massive pat on the back, they were all genuinely an absolute pleasure to see and a delight to trawl through. Thank You. Over to you Craigie-C to lead us on to our next Journey, wherever that may take us.
Thanks for that, well appreciated. Couldn't agree more, a fantastic selection of images from all. I have set up next week's comp with the theme "Yards / Sidings" https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/unofficial-screenshot-competition-2024-week-18.80991/ Have fun all, looking forward to your contributions.
If I could, I would give "BritishRail60062" 5 votes. Seeing the 749 class (known as the "Bardotte" in Czechia) and, as support, another Czech Railways legend, the 753 class (Brejlovec - after the extended cab windows), is just wonderful.
