Welcome to the Unofficial Screenshot Competition! The theme for this week is: Interesting Rolling stock Feel free to interpret the theme however you wish. The more obvious choices are freight pulled Amtrak or vice versa, or certain rail tours in the UK. This is a fun and friendly alternative to the official Screenshot Competition run by DTG. Here you can share your weekly themed TSC screenshots using any 3rd party / post shot editing etc. creations which are not allowed in the official competition. Rules: TSC only shots allowed. Screenshot should be in some way (can be very tenuous) linked to the theme. Otherwise anything goes. You can enter up to 3 screenshots, posted as separate posts. You can delete and replace if you wish. 3rd party content / Reshades / Reskins etc. are welcomed but are not mandatory. Previous week's winner to decide winner (can't enter themselves). The winner chooses the new theme for next week (and becomes the new judge). The Judge of the week's decision is final. We strongly discourage any negative comment or criticism of another entry by a fellow contributor, this is a light hearted & fun contest! This is a major "we are all friendly" thread and we hope it will always remain so. Please keep chat to an absolute minimum. Entries will close at 10PM GMT on Saturday, May 3rd 2025 and will be judged by me - PaulC In the event of this week's winner not responding by 10PM GMT on Sunday, May 4th 2025, a new thread will be created using the results of this week's poll.
Fastline liveried 56 303 hauls a rake of FZA wagons loaded with overhanging rail sections which require an additional barrier RRA wagon at each end to allow safe navigation of the curves.
I like the theme, maybe trying too hard to bring extremely interesting stuff, I have a bit of a creative block. From the US, I would say the Baldwin-SP Cab Forward was a quite interesting loco. I only ran (and captured) the worn livery once. It was fun to stretch its legs beyond 25mph.
A bit dark - and no editing this time - but the UIC-X coaches bring back memories from my youth. This is pretty much how it was when I was travelling to my darling during Spring 2006. It's also nonstandard stock.
Since most of TSC (for me, so far) is reusing the same stuff ad nauseum, I'm rather happy to have triggered the Class 68. Aside the 801 it's the only modern stuff I managed to play from the UK in TSC. Sure, you could argue about the 170, 444, 450, 67... Anyway, it also looks modern, interesting. Did a bit of research and figured that in reality these two locos were used by ScotRail for a while. Initially I noted how every train I meet happens to be 68007 but I'm knowledgeable now. Something nice I discovered eventually - while the coaches do have minimal light inside, activating HEP actually turns the Mk2e coach lights on, also visible better from the outside.
A rather curious set of rollingstock is seen on a West Coast Railways railtour service seen at Lymington Pier, England in the United Kingdom on the Lymington Branch Line during a lovely Summers evening. The train has West Coast Railways Class 33s '33025' and 33029' of the former BRCW Type 3 designation on either end but what the interesting part of this consist is the coaching stock in the middle! In the middle is a 4 coach set of the British Rail Class 438 in London Transport livery, despite being designated with a TOPs classification and looking a lot like British EMUs such as the British Rail Class 421 they are actually completely unpowered coaching stock once intended for a very wide range of push-pull configurations with other locomotives. 34 sets of these unique push-pull coaching stock were built brand new from 1966-1967 alongside conversions in 1974. The rather unusual looking diesel railmotor unit Matsuhara Railway KiHa 07 Series '0750' (formerly known as either the KiHa 42000 or the KiHa 42500) crosses a magnificent bridge in the forested mountains of Hokkaido, Japan running a morning passenger service on the Matsuhara Line which is a fictionalised inspiration of the Furusato Ginga Line. Pennsylvania Railroad EMD LWT12 '1000' heads downhill on the Pennsylvania Railroad Main Line (now known as the Pittsburgh Line) headed for Altoona, Pennsylvania in the United States of America hauling 9 coaches of the interesting Aerotrain passenger service of the mid 1900s. It was an interesting answer to the rapidly rising problem of automobile competition with the railroad industry and so the leading locomotive (the EMD LWT12) was given a futuristic design style with a cab resembling car designs of the time, the coaches were simply bus designs equipped for railroad use. In the end, this attempt at counteracting road competition proved to be quite dodgy and did not last all that long. Motive Power: EMD LWT12 Route: Horseshoe Curve Scenario: 04.
