Welcome to the Unofficial Screenshot Competition! The theme for this week is: Capital Cities Feel free to interpret the theme however you wish. The more obvious choices are freight pulled Amtrak or vice versa, or certain rail tours in the UK. This is a fun and friendly alternative to the official Screenshot Competition run by DTG. Here you can share your weekly themed TSC screenshots using any 3rd party / post shot editing etc. creations which are not allowed in the official competition. Rules: TSC only shots allowed. Screenshot should be in some way (can be very tenuous) linked to the theme. Otherwise anything goes. You can enter up to 3 screenshots, posted as separate posts. You can delete and replace if you wish. 3rd party content / Reshades / Reskins etc. are welcomed but are not mandatory. Previous week's winner to decide winner (can't enter themselves). The winner chooses the new theme for next week (and becomes the new judge). The Judge of the week's decision is final. We strongly discourage any negative comment or criticism of another entry by a fellow contributor, this is a light hearted & fun contest! This is a major "we are all friendly" thread and we hope it will always remain so. Please keep chat to an absolute minimum. Entries will close at 10PM GMT on Saturday, May 10th 2025 and will be judged by me - Blazin In the event of this week's winner not responding by 10PM GMT on Sunday, May 11th 2025, a new thread will be created using the results of this week's poll.
Arriving in the Capital, the 1B11 Peterborough to London Kings Cross service, top and tailed by 43157 and 43074, 1st May 1989.
Class 68 leaving Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland on a beautiful spring day: (rain and clouds are beautiful)
I bet you didn't expect to see the capital of New Jersey, Trenton: Or crossing over the river, entering it: ps. No, New York is not a capital of anything. I hastily started typing it and then realized I should check. Albany is the capital of. Washington is yet free to grab.
München, the capital city of Bayern (Bavaria) .. or rather the inside of its Hbf. You can't begin advertising Oktoberfest soon enough. It took me a while to de-anglicize the word "Oberbay" such as at the stop of Weilheim.
A 319 heads into London victoria with the iconic Battersea power station in the background London - Brighton AP 319
Thank you to those who participated this week! Without further ado lets get to the results. In 3rd place is Craigie-C with this very busy shot at King's Cross in London. The sheer amount of tracks, overhead wires and trains occupying most of the platforms really showcase that capital city feel! In 2nd place is triznya.andras with this moody shot side inside München Hbf, I really like the lighting inside the station here and the numerous advertisements amongst the many problems to visitors to the Bavarian state capital! In 1st place is paulc and my oh my where to start?? What an utterly incredible screenshot, it genuinely feels like a real photograph at first glance!! How the train has been framed in such a busy shot is wonderful with the range of colours of the freight making it pop out from the various nonstop rows of buildings that house the bustling population of London. The lighting is also brilliant and is shining on the side of the train in a perfect way to make this shot work. Well done paulc, definitely one of my favourite shots of this year and of the weekly screenshot contests as a whole. Looking forward to your theme next week!
Wow thanks Blazin! Whilst trying to capture this shot I accidentally hit the rear train cam & had to hastily head back up high to the front (I don't have pause/brake to freeze the action) but it worked out well in the end. New comp up soon with the theme High Speed, lets see if we can drum up some interest with a slightly general theme & also give everyone chance to show off thier shiney new old looking grubby Valenta's Great pics too Craigie-C & Triznya.andras!
Thanks Blazin for the podium place, well appreciated. As for the winning shot from paulc, I agree, that just has to go down as one of the best screenshots I have seen since I don't know when. A brilliant worthy winner.
