Welcome to the Unofficial Screenshot Competition!
This is a fun and friendly alternative to the official Screenshot Competition run by DTG.

Theme for this week: Autumn & Colors
About a year ago I found a channel, Trout & Coffee, showcasing fantastic videos of impressive fall foliage. So that's the inspiration.

    Our rules:
    • Screenshot should be in some way (can be very tenuous) linked to the theme.
    • You can enter up to 3 pictures, posted separately. You can delete and replace if you wish.
    • TSC only shots allowed.
    • 3rd party content, enhancement and artistic editing is accepted.
    • Thread poster picks the podium and can't enter themselves. The decision is final.
    • The winner chooses the new theme for next week and becomes its judge.
    • We strongly discourage any negativity, this is a light hearted & fun contest!
This is a major "we are all friendly" thread and we hope it will always remain so.
    • Please keep chat to an absolute minimum.
Entries close at Friday, October 6th EOD and will be judged by me Saturday morning.
In the event of this week's winner not responding by 5:00 PM GMT Sunday, October 8th, a new thread should be created using the highest vote in the poll.

Good luck to all, but most importantly, remember to have fun!

How very thoughtful of Load Haul to paint their locos in Autumnal Colours, they must have seen this competition thread theme in their magical Crystal Ball.

    Good morning!
Relatively fewer entries as of late, but many nice ones, thanks for taking part.

First of all, thanks to George for showing up. You also won the like award :)

My 3rd favorite is cscarpenter's shot. Nice scenery in the background as pointed out, plus fun points for the 60 at the 60.
    p3.jpg
Your Wherry Lines capture was nice and moody, too.

2nd favorite is the 420 series EMU. Maybe a tie with the above. Anyway, it's a nice model, fairly rare thus interesting as well.
    p2.jpg
Is this a career scenario? Are you testing the beta? :)

My favorite of the week is the train of lies by Blazin, with the green Blue Peter leading. I like the light, color balance, contrast, layout, topic.
    The token is yours :)
    p1.jpg
I see the irony in myself. A few years ago I favored scenic overviews - still like to have some of them - but recently I shifted to ground level, close ups, zoom, all that blasphemy. Curious. Also, apparently I like 60xxx. ;)

Technical detail - If you don't like my OP format, click the link at the end for the previous one.
If you're still reading me - Could consider tagging some people to participate, plus people might be a bit busier with life judging by traffic so maybe two weeks could be better for a while.

Congratulations to the other winners and thank you for 1st place! I will try and get the thread up soon and think of a theme soon.

Haha mate looks like my style of screenshot is brainwashing you! As you can tell my style is all about zoom and often ground level shots. I just think they look great and that's always my way to go usually. I try and get scenic overviews at times but often I feel they are not worthy of getting posted because they aren't good enough for my standards. Also, I often turn away screenshots I get that don't have good sunlight on the train if it's a day scenario. I am practically addicted to getting great lighting in my shots both in game and real life too! I'm a bit of a perfectionist. ;)
A bit off topic, but in regards to real life train photography I use zoom a lot but don't often do things like ground level because it's just not viable in real life. However I've gotten too used to a few years now of the very flexible screenshotting of Train Simulator Classic where you can pause the game and move around from any angle you want. When in real life it's often a one shot at the photo deal. I often end up frustrated with my photos because I got something wrong especially if the train is not centred in the shot for example or if a cloud covers the sunlight on the train at the moment the train comes through. However it's just that much more satisfying when I get a great shot with great lighting for example. However It is a habit I must learn to put behind me to enjoy myself more while trainspotting. Don't get me wrong, I love trainspotting! But I just need to stop getting frustrated if a photo isn't perfect to enjoy the hobby even more. As things are often never perfect and I should be happy with what I get!

I disagree about extending the competition to two weeks sometimes. If someone can't participate due to life responsibilites that is absolutely alright but they can just participate in another week rather than extending the contest for them. Extending it to two weeks will confuse the structure of the content as it's "weekly" and not "fortnightely" and there will be a point where everyone gets their shots in and it's a long period of waiting with no new shots for winners to be announced. I just don't see it working that well unfortunately. I don't want to sound selfish because I am not trying to be but I just believe always keeping it to weekly unless absolutely necessary is the best way to go. :)

Here is Week 41 of the Unofficial Screenshot Competition!
    https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/unofficial-screenshot-competition-week-41.74915/
The theme is on Narrow Gauge & Light Railways which I understand we do not have a lot of for Train Simulator Classic but I love those sort of railways and would love to see some creativity with screenshots people can provide. Please see my reply on the new week's thread for a guide on Narrow Gauge routes and rollingstock that you can purchase if you don't have any but want to participate.

Blazin Please don't take this personally, but I am not sure if this theme is going to work in this thread, I feel you may struggle to get contributions.
The thread was originally set up for us all to show off our 3rd Party stuff that is not allowed in the DTG official screenshot thread, e.g. Armstrong Powerhouse Weather / Track / Signal packs, 3DZug /CW / DT / SSS products, 3rd party reskins etc. etc.
With Narrow gauge & Light Railways as the theme, I personally only have the Corris Railway installed which I very rarely run and is totally DTG compliant for the official thread.
I would imagine worldwide we are looking at a fairly niche market and possibly not many contributions.
As we are of late already struggling for contributors could you possibly widen the theme a bit to make it more inclusive for all?
I am more than happy to be proven wrong, and will happily hold my hands up for questioning your choice if an influx of Narrow gauge images are forthwith, I am just struggling to come up with anything that fits the theme, and uses 3rd party material myself.
    Cheers

    Congrats to Blazin great shot.
Cheers, thanks for the podium place much appreciated.
No, it was just a quick drive set up purely for the screenshot, I have not yet ventured into the Beta World.

I agree, if I post my 3 shots on the first day of the new thread theme announcement I don't really want to have to wait 14 days to see if I have won or not, I feel I would just lose interest and switch off from the comp altogether.
I admit it has been a bit quiet on the number of contributors as of late, but the quality of submissions by those that have contributed has still been terrific. I just love the 1 week, see what gets posted, change theme and go again format, it keeps it alive and forever changing.
I honestly believed this thread would have lasted no more than six weeks when started, and yet here we are, Week 41, Year 3, who would have thought it? Long may it continue.
