Welcome to the Unofficial Screenshot Competition This is a fun and friendly alternative to the official Screenshot Competition run by DTG. Here you can share your weekly themed TSC screenshots using any 3rd party / post shot editing etc. creations which are not allowed in the official competition. Rules: • TSC only shots allowed. • Screenshot should be in some way (can be very tenuous) linked to the theme. Otherwise anything goes. • You can enter up to 3 screenshots, posted as separate posts. You can delete and replace if you wish. • 3rd party content / Reshades / Reskins etc. are welcomed but are not mandatory. • Previous week's winner to decide winner (can't enter themselves). • The winner chooses the new theme for next week (and becomes the new judge). • The Judge of the week's decision is final. • We strongly discourage any negative comment or criticism of another entry by a fellow contributor, this is a light hearted & fun contest! This is a major "we are all friendly" thread and we hope it will always remain so. • Please keep chat to an absolute minimum. Entries will close at 9PM GMT on Friday, October 4th 2024 and will be judged by me - Blazin In the event of this weeks winner not responding by 17:00 on September 18th, 2024 a new thread will be created using the results of this weeks poll. The theme for this week is: Crossing Borders Feel free to interpret the theme however you wish. Good luck to all, but most importantly, remember to have fun.
Just to be clear as this thread suggests it can be up to interpretation. For example I’m very happy with screenshots of trains seen not crossing a literal border where the screenshot was taken; for example it could simply just be a screenshot of a long distance passenger train that crosses borders (country, states, territories, etc) on it’s journey. You just have to mention as such if you were to do that.
A double cross. While signal maintainers are doing some repairs, two BNSF heavy freights are passing each other near Immigrant Gap on the Nevada and California border on Donner Pass. Power: EYEIN12, ET44C4 w/SPS enhancements (left), REPPO GP60M (facing) in an ABBA configuration w/MLW Audio light, horn, and bell enhancements by jalsina. Route: Donner Pass
A D16 about to cross the Suffolk/Cambridgeshire border just West of the Dullingham road outside Newmarket station on a wet afternoon in Spring 1954. The border in question is a curiosity caused by Anglo-Saxon parish boundaries - isolating Newmarket inside Suffolk but almost surrounded by Cambridgeshire.
A D16 crossing the Suffolk/Cambridgeshire border just West of the Dullingham road outside Newmarket station on a wet afternoon in Spring 1954 #2. Road traffic is an Austin-Morris Traveller or 'moggy' and a police-service Mini (both by Richard Maxted).
It was staged. I added additional trees and shrubs as fill, placed the workers and vehicles, built trains using the editor, set TOD, and enabled specific shaders for color balance. In essence the same as building a diorama. In order to find the correct spot I used Google Earth to find the coordinates and entered them in the editor.
Not very many choices to choose from this week but nonetheless great shots to the few that participated. In 3rd place is cunningn#3154 with this moody shot of a classic British steam scene near the Suffolk/Cambridgeshire border! In 2nd place is OldAlaskaGuy with a wonderful shot that he set up himself. It looks like very real railroad operations here; love the Hirailer on the right! In 1st place is TrainsAreBest with this truly excellent shot of two IC225 sets crossing eachother at the Scotland/England border in the United Kingdom. Lighting is great and the framing is just superb; the trains are looking perfectly equal in the space they occupy on either sides of the screenshot and the border sign in the middle is just the cherry on top. Absolutely brilliant stuff! Looking forward to your weeks competition TrainsAreBest !
All good mate; can't help it when life gets in the way! Always more weeks to come for you to contribute.
Thank you very much for the win. I worked hard on the composition, so I'm glad others like it. I'll get a new competition up later today, when my Saturday chores are done.
Well done all, great shots from all. Sadly I also had one of "those" weeks workwise and missed the deadline. Onwards and upwards to next week.
