Welcome to the Unofficial Screenshot Competition This is a fun and friendly alternative to the official Screenshot Competition run by DTG. Here you can share your weekly themed TSC screenshots using any 3rd party / post shot editing etc. creations which are not allowed in the official competition. Rules: TSC only shots allowed. Screenshot should be in some way (can be very tenuous) linked to the theme. Otherwise anything goes. You can enter up to 3 screenshots, posted as separate posts. You can delete and replace if you wish. 3rd party content / Reshades / Reskins etc. are welcomed but are not mandatory. Previous week's winner to decide winner (can't enter themselves). The winner chooses the new theme for next week (and becomes the new judge). The Judge of the week's decision is final. We strongly discourage any negative comment or criticism of another entry by a fellow contributor, this is a light hearted & fun contest! This is a major "we are all friendly" thread and we hope it will always remain so. Please keep chat to an absolute minimum. Entries will close at 9:00 PM GMT on Friday, January 26th 2024 and will be judged by me - Craigie-C In the event of this weeks winner not responding by 5:00 PM GMT Sunday, January 28th, a new thread will be created using the theme with the highest votes in this weeks poll. Theme for this week : "Whole Train" Feel free to interpret the theme however you wish. Good luck to all, but most importantly, remember to have fun.
In 1987, an early morning HST, partially repainted into the new Intercity Swallow livery, leaves Exeter St David's, illuminated by the morning sun. Loco: HST Route: Riviera Line
In Cologne, an ICE 3 Class 407 climbs the ramp to reach the Koblenz mainline, its full length being visible, alongside other consists in the yard, with the mighty Cologne Cathedral in the background.
Sometimes the whole train just isn't really that long! Here we see GB Railfreight Class 66 '66703' waiting at a signal displaying danger outside of the eastern side of South Tottenham while Silverlink Class 150 '150131' continues travelling along the Gospel Oak to Barking Line on it's morning rush hour run to Barking during 2007. Locos: British Rail Class 66, British Rail Class 150 Route: North London & Goblin Lines
Union Pacific GE ES44ACs '7345' and '5379' haul a total of 60 autorack wagons through the barren desert hills of southern Wyoming on an afternoons trip to Laramie. Loco: GE ES44AC Route: Sherman Hill
Santa Fe EMD GP7s '2868', '2791' and '2678' lead 40 empty 70 Ton Coal Hoppers to Trinidad for placement in Jansen for further use on a newly opened 37 mile long branchline servicing a large coal mine in the York Canyon during 1966. Loco: EMD GP7 Route: Raton Pass: Trinidad - Raton
A Class 66 is seen making its way across the forth bridge on the fife circle line with LNER A4 4488 "Union of South Africa" and coaches in tow. The A4 was working a railtour between Dundee & Edinburgh but suffered boiler failure just north of Dumfermline - The 66 was sent to haul the train for the remainder of the journey to Edinburgh. Route: Fife Circle Line Loco: Class 66, LNER A4
Shot during a time before the AP Sky/Weather Pack 2.0 existed and when Reshade became popular on my system, we see a one of a kind special on the West Somerset - The West Somerset Spring Gronktacular, where surviving gronks from all over the UK would descend on the west somerset, hauling passenger specials and perform shunting demonstrations. Here we see one such move between Norton Fitzwarren and Bishops Lidyeard with 6 gronks (3 on the front, and 3 on the rear) on a passenger service to Minehead. It was slow going as they're only limited to 15mph
Again, shot before AP weather 2.0, signal EP and Reshade times, we see some Class 421 (or possibly 422 or 423) action along with a class 419 MLV on the South London Network.
Route: London-Brighton Train: MKS Class 460 Back at it with a train that technically doesn't exist anymore...
Route: Bahnstrecke Strasbourg-Karlsruhe Train: Vr DB BR 101 A push-pull DB IC is kind of rare but i'm not sure. (EDIT)- Decided to put a picture a bit more related to the theme.
37 701 hauling 6B72 Llanwern coal siding - Margam T.C. (1993) Loco:- AP Class 37 Route:- South Wales Mainline
142002 + 158752 departs Holyhead with the1H35 GMPTE Regional Railways service to Manchester Piccadilly (9th June 1995). I think I know which 2 out of the four cars I would chose to travel in LOL. Locos:- AP Class 142 + AP Class 158 Route:- North Wales Coastal (TFW)
[EDIT] OOps, just realised I posted one too many, sorry guys please disregard this one, cheers. The same units are just seen leaving Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch station. Try saying that after a few jars LOL Locos:- AP Class 142 + AP Class 158 Route:- North Wales Coastal (TFW)
You must admit a GMPTE / RR 142 coupled with a RR 158 powering out of Conwy is a pretty impressive sight LOL. Locos:- AP Class 142 + AP Class 158 Route:- North Wales Coastal (TFW)
Hi all, firstly my apologies for being a tad late announcing the results, it has just been one of "those" weekends, Secondly I would like to thank every one of you for offering such a fantastic set of shots, I thought we may struggle this week due to the late start, but no you have proved me totally wrong. Enough waffle down to business. I have really struggled to narrow these down to podium places but after much deliberation have gone with :- Joint 3rd goes to I'm a rail fan obviously for this whole bright green JS03 on a green background, it really worked. and weecoolguyaj for this multiple train shot, the grey murky weather really ads to the mood. In joint second I have gone with cscarpenter for this stunning conwy castle 142/158 capture, and bellminsterboy for this cracking ICE3 pulling out of Cologne image. Finally I just had to award my favourite shot of the week, given the theme, to Blazin for this amazing UP Sherman Hill Image. To include all 60 autoracks + 2x GE ES44ACs is mightily impressive, well done. Congratulations Blazin you are hereby awarded this weeks Golden Master Key to lead us all forward.
I would also like to offer an honourable mention to PhÜnKî_Rø0sTā for this terrific multiple EMU capture. CJM21292 for this recently released Amtrak Aem=7 and finally to don237 for this quaint little Steam Shed setup, I personally love the little Y6, it is great fun to run. Well done to all for making my choice of winners so hard, it really is a pleasure sifting through all your different variations on the theme, thanks.
Thank you Craigie-C for making me runner up, and for running a great competition! Well done to everyone
Congratulations to the other winners and thank you very much for 1st place! The new thread is now up with the theme of Long Distance Trains. Have fun! https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/unofficial-screenshot-contest-2024-week-5.78176/
Thanks for the podium place Craigie-C! I was mostly going for the train and angle not the colour but anyways, thanks for bringing it up!
Cheers for the runner up spot, I'll take that any week. Congratulations to all for yet another stunning week of screenshots.
