The Peninsula Corridor (along with other UP routes) could use another locomotive for UP freight services, along with a few new pieces of rolling stock. I'm suggesting UP's rebuilt SD59MX diesel locomotive as a possible DLC for Peninsula Corridor. In 2012, UP rebuilt 28 of their older SD60Ms with upgraded electrical, mechanical, and control systems and 3150HP 12-Cylinder 710G3A Prime Movers. The SD59MXs are EPA Tier 2 Compliant, although, UP did have #9900 modified to test Tier 4 emissions upgrades. The locos were designated SD59MXs by UP and SD59M-2s by EMD/Progress Rail. The locos are occasionally called SD32ECOs. UP numbered their SD59MXs #9900-9927. These rebuilds would be perfect for heavy local freights on the Peninsula Corridor, as well as Sherman Hill, Antelope Valley, Cane Creek, and Cajon Pass. The UP SD59MX DLC Pack could also include some new UP freight equipment, including cement hoppers, new auto racks, new intermodal well cars, grain hoppers, steel coil cars, etc.
