Did anyone spot the note in today's announcement about TSC updates? I suppose it's more or less known in 3rd party circles, JT is working on: https://www.justtrains.net/in-development/wessex-main-line-southampton-salisbury-extension Curious what kind of rolling stock the pack is going to include or reference. There are mentions of updates to the 165-166. More importantly, several trains - the 66, 70, 158 - are available in other packs. It could make sense to include scenarios for those and bundle up.
That route has been released ? Just Trains - Wessex Main Line: Southampton - Salisbury Extension The one mentioned in the updates is a different route? Train Simulator: Southwestern Expressways: Reading - Exeter Route Add-On on Steam (steampowered.com)
This is in the update, check paragraph 3 Reference: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/train-simulator-classic-update-25th-march-2024.80045/
As Danny said the route is already out, but it's only on the Just Trains Website not on Steam. This is probably a copy and paste from the Release notes when they released the South Western Expressways update on their own site a few weeks ago (that update has also been out a while but only just made it to Steam). It actually says 'This product has been released' on the first line of the link you provided. It's a really good route extending and slightly improving the existing Southampton Bournemouth route, The 166 is slightly improved but I still don't like it much. If you already have a lot of AP / JT stock then the 17 scenarios use quite a lot of it, but there are also 10 scenarios that use default TSC stock. Well worth a read of the product page on JT's website, If you like a good mix of freight and passenger running then its worth buying in my opinion. I guess that if the route comes to Steam then you will just get the 10 default stock scenarios. I used to live in Salisbury and that area is modelled very well.
Yep, started here: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/just-trains-southampton-salisbury-extension.78134/
You caught me for skim reading there , it appears you are right, it does mention upcoming Wessex Main Line (before anyone quotes me, I'm just quoting a page )
Thanks Tiger. So now the question is, whether it's a leak or a misleading mistake. Jamie's notes are specifically about Steam updates. So I was thinking maybe they're bringing it to Steam, too, like many others. Otherwise, I'm probably the least competent person on this board to discuss third party stuff. I would say it's likely the mistake, then again it's really short update, shouldn't be hard to proof read. Thanks Spikee for linking the topic. I basically ignored it, but it was vaguely familiar.
I am pleasantly surprised that the new 3D trees not only apply to this route, but also to the JT MML standalone routes on steam. This is like a free JT vegetation pack upgrade to most of the recent JT routes on steam. Only one issue, after the update, the track and ground texture are missing in SWEXR. The other JT routes bought on steam are fine though without this issue. Anyone else experience this issue on SWEXR?
I also was surprised to find 3D trees growing in the old XC Birmingham-Bristol route as well as the AP weather.
No problem with missing track and ground textures but the bridges carrying roads over the line are missing between Exeter and Tiverton Parkway and possibly elsewhere, I've not looked further.
I spoke too soon! I uninstalled and re-installed the route and now I've got no ground texture and track. I give up - for now at least.
Yes. First I installed the original South Western Expressways and checked the track & undertrack terrain was present, it was. I checked the Provider / Products called for by the South Western Expressways - Reading's RouteProperties.xml file and saw that it needed JustTrains/SWEX which wasn't present in my 'live' TSC folders. I found I'd got a JustTrains/SWEX folder in a TSC backup, the folder contains 'SWEXAssets.ap', so I copied that into the Assets folder in my live installation and now I've got tracks, terrain and the bridges I was missing previously plus some more structures I'd not noticed missing earlier. 'SWEXAssets.ap' doesn't itself seem to contain any track so whether first installing the original South Western Expressways would of itself restored the track and terrain in the South Western Expressways - Reading route I can't be sure. The problem seems to be that the current download from Steam doesn't contain the 'SWEXAssets.ap' file, or if it does it's not getting installed on my system.
Has anyone heard anything about the Steam release of this route? I thought I saw a "coming soon" article 2-3 weeks ago which usually means release is imminent, but have not seen anything since then.
I saw something on Facebook a few weeks ago regarding this and have been checking from time to time, but there haven't been any updates to the article since.
I've purchased it directly from JT. It usually takes a bit of time to pack a valid Steam depot, and as the installer copies Kuju GeoPcDx files from the ELAP, that must be sorted I think (as this won't work via Steam - there's no installation scripts allowed, instead depots may be copied only.)
